Should ONR feel slippery or be sudsy when used as a Rinseless Wash?

Did a little test to double check and see if ONR when mixed for use as a Rinseless Wash should feel slippery to the feel. Also captured some pictures to show that it's not sudsy like a normal car wash soap. While I was at it I also compared Detailer's Pride Wash & Gloss.

Both products were tested at 1 ounce per 2 gallons. If you see a black mark on the inside wall of the bucket, that's a 2-gallon quick reference mark to let me know when I've added approximately 2 gallons of water in my 5-gallon bucket.

I poured 2 gallons of water into the bucket and then measured using a normal 12" ruler and 2-gallons was around the 6" mark.

First up... ONR mixed at 1 ounce for 2-gallons of water, measured with a Pro Blend Bottle Proportioner

If you blast the 1 ounce of ONR with a strong spray of water some suds will be created...

After seconds, maybe a few short minutes the suds will pop and go away...

The water and ONR solution at 1 ounce per 2 gallons does not have a slipper feel to it

Next up, DP Rinseless Wash & Gloss - 1 ounce for 2-gallons of water, measured with a Pro Blend Bottle Proportioner

Mores suds with DP Rinseless Wash & Gloss than with ONR

From my sense of feel, there was an increase in the slipperiness to the cleaning solution and the suds lasted a little longer...

After a few minutes the suds dissipate...

Hope this helps, keep in mind rinseless wases are not like normal car wash soaps, so don't expect long lasting suds that pile high as a mountain frothing out of the bucket.

I thought some would like the tip about marking the inside of the bucket with a permanent black Sharpie Marker so they wouldn't have to measure out 2 gallons.

I hate doing simple things over and over again if I make them "Bubba-Proof"

:D

Mike, why not a blind challenge at DF with buckets of various products behind a panel and get people to tell you which feels the most slippery.

Umm....

  • It's not that important?
  • There's too much already to do during Detail Fest?
  • After I teach the class in the morning I plan on socializing the rest of the day with our guests and reps from other companies?

Oh well. It would be an interesting poll in a blind test so no one knows the brands, etc.

Indeed good idea. I'll do the samething on my 2 buckets.

Bubba-Proof

I have ONR old version and DP Wash & Gloss and I haven't been able to tell the difference between the two besides the smell when it comes to using it. Tomorrow morning I'm going to try the new version of ONR for the first time. If it wasn't for rinseless washes I'd be stuck washing at the local coin op scratchOmatic.
