Should XMT 3 and Edge yellow pad take out these swirls?

So my HD PC should be hear Thursday along with the complete XMT line up and Edge pads. This will be my first attempt at the PC but I feel pretty confident.

Here is what I have to work with:
Rear quarter panel:

Passenger side fender. This is what I installed during my re-build, notice the water spots:

My plan of attack is XMT 3 w/ yellow pad, followed by XMT 1 w/ orange pad. Hopefully this should work well.

After that I'm either going to use DG #105 followed by aquawax OR XMT Glaze followed by PB's NB. I'm leaning towards DG 105.

Let me know what you think.
 
Thats what my paint looks like. I havent waxed my car for at least a year. :(

Maybe start with the Green pad first?

Yea, I have no idea, but compared to what the "pros" on this site have started with on similar swirls, I think I'm going to have to start with yellow.

I'm curious to see what Justin, Killr, Surfer, Sparkie has to say
 
Yeah, all I know is Justin says to start with the less harsh stuff.
 
I just used XMT 1 on 8006 pads from Megs, that removed most of the swirls. But that car didnt look as bad as the one you pictured.

My car is a soft clear and XMT2 on a LC white pad takes care of most swirls in the paint in one pass. It looked like your car at one point. Until you know how soft/hard your clear is, start with the least abrasive pad/polish combo and go more agressive if you need it. No point in removing more clear then you have to.
 
If you use pressure, XMT 3 and yellow Edge pad shoul take care of that on speed 6, but really it depends on how hard your clear is, XMT 2 and maybe just the orange pad could take care of it as well. You may not need the yellow pad. Start with XMT 2 and Orange pad and see what happens and go from there. Those look pretty severe, and if I recall you posted pics awhile ago at different angles and the swirls looked pretty deep. Knowing Ford paint, it can be pretty hard so.....i.e. white pad and Opitmum Polish or Compound didn't work on my truck, I had to use yellow pad and OC and go from there.

Ditto Ditto... Try #2 first, those do SEEM severe, but no need to do more harm if #2 will get rid of them. Try a small 2x2 area on the hood.. if you see no noticeable difference, try 3. It may take more than one time over the area to get rid of them. Some area may require a 3rd try...

Remember with use on the PC, apply roughly 10lbs to the head of the PC, work slow, allowing the polish to heat up and break down, and work in 2x2 areas. Get some blue-painters tape if needed. You won't get the car done in an hour, so plan to spend some time fixing the problem.

I guess I'll try the Edge green pad with XMT 2 to start and go from there.

If I start with green pad and XMT 2 but it's not strong enough, would go with XMT 3 and green, XMT 2 and yellow, or XMT 3 and yellow?

I've heard the XMT line is very pad dependant.
 
Thats the thing the confuses me, whats the next step. Theres so many different combos.
 
I agree to start less aggressive. You can start with the less aggressive pad and the #2. If that doesn't work go to a more aggressive pad and #2. If that doesn't work, go back to the first pad and the #3 (just don't go backwards from #3 to #2 on the same pad).
 
Hes got the Edge pads, so he could just flip it over.

I would start with the green pad and XMT 3. I think that would take care of it. If not, go yellow.
Let us know the out come when you get done.
 
Stuff should be hear tomorrow. Depending what time it gets here I might be able to start tomorrow. If not, def Friday.

I think I'll start with XMT 3 and green pad.

Quick question: If I started tomorrow with polishing, say I did the entire car with green and XMT 3 and it did a good job.... will it hurt the finish or anything for the car to sit outside for the night since it doesn't have any kind of protective coating on the CC anymore?

I think it would be alright. Use a QD before you wax.
