I just watched Mikes How To Video on applying sealant with the straightline technique, and I am kind of confused, because he recommneds not applying with a circular motion, to keep from possibly putting swirl marks in the paint. But then he removes the sealant in a circular motion. Will that not possibly put swirl marks?

The idea is if everything is clean and nothing you're using is abrasive, (nothing will instill scratches into the paint), then you can move your hand in any direction you like when applying a wax or a paint sealant, or when wiping off a wax or a paint sealant.

The video doesn't say you have to use straight-lines when applying a wax or paint sealant, it merely shows how to do and explains why some people like to use this technique.
