Show & Shine: 2015 Chevrolet Z71 2500HD 2 step + CQ Finest, CQ DLUX and CQ Forte

Been away from the forum last week, (ear/sinus infection making me so dizzy I couldn't friggin' think, then ended up with the flu) so I'm a bit late to the show here. Sorry 'bout dat. :dunno:

Claude brother... words do not describe. :applause:

Knowing you're as OCDetailed as the worst of us, the quality of your work is no surprise.

You know... that ol' thought of, this manufacturer has hard paint, this one has soft, yada yada yada..... Well we've proven that wrong, HUH? :props: I'm really glad you worked on it and took the time to show just how important that process is.

If I'd gone with conventional wisdom of hard paint on that C7 the other week I'd ripped into it with a heavy cut pad/compound, followed by medium cut polish, and thought nothing of it. Instead, a white pad did the work, (all but the worst of it) and D301 finished it down with very little cut in the pad or product.

I'll tell newbies all the time, tape off your hood into half a dozen test spots and try the same product with 2 pads, different speeds with the same product, another product with 2 pads, etc. You've shown EXACTLY why that holds true.

Gotta' love it when they don't have a budget. :D

Great job buddy, I'd have never done it in that time..... you're certainly a more flexible man than I. :dblthumb2:

Raising the bar again Claude.

I've just took the time to read the entire thread this morning.

Thanks for sharing as always. I love your work. :dblthumb2:

Gawd man, that is some rough health issues you had to deal with. I sure hope you are fully recovered.

Your suggestion of the hood test spot is right on! As Mike P says the least aggressive as possible, so start easy and change technique, speed, passes, compounds and pads as needed. Sometimes I prefer doing a few more passes with a lighter combo (pad and compound) then to go to the more aggressive combo. Call me careful but at least I am satisfied that a moment of inattention won't result is a paint blemish from over thinning the clear

Jake, you actually read the thread..... you are a good man :) I tend to be verbose in telling the story, sometimes too wordy LOL! ;) Glad you enjoyed it brother. BTW, you need to post more stuff on FB. I miss seeing all those nice cars. BTW the showroom area looks killer.
