Show us your pet.

Gotcha. I thought venomous snakes were a big problem down under.

What about kangaroos? Do you have kangaroos in your neighborhood??
I've always wanted one of those. I hear they smell really bad and will kick the **** out of you
Nah, its the drop bears you have to be careful of.

We do have kangaroos living in the farmland next to my neighbourhood, we see them on walks occasionally, I guess they do have a strong smell, the dogs usually smell them before they see them. The big ones are dangerous, but even the smaller ones can mess you up, the ones in the video below are maybe average size.

A close friend lives outside of Brisbane. They have a family of Roos that live just down the road from them.
She sends me pictures and videos.
I'm concerned the roos will run up and grab the baby. She assures me that sort of thing doesn't happen lol

If I lived there I would make one a pet ❤️ 😁

It's the dingoes that go for babies, they even made a movie about it with Meryl Streep.

I know that story wasn't funny, but it reminds me of this skit taken from Big Girls Blouse (you need to watch it all to get the context, but the saying is at 4 min mark) -

Jane Turner, Magda Szubanski and Gina Rily are three of the funniest women to have ever walked this earth. Kath and Kim is an acquired taste, but I much prefer their work in Fast Forward and Big Girls Blouse.

True, I've been watching them for near 30 years.

People used to ask me if my last dog was part dingo, she wasn't, she was Border Collie X Labrador. One time she was swimming in the river and a guy water skiing past fell into the water, he called out to the boat asking if there were any sharks, they said no but you better look out for the Dingo coming to get you. I forgot I posted this video up a while back, it was recorded 21 years ago, so the quality is a bit rough.

Belgian Malinois.
By far the hardest dog that I've trained

Beautiful dog. Very serious looking. There's a few in my neighbourhood, about half the houses in my estate are for air force families, and these guys live with their handlers. Very well trained too, my guys occasionally react to bigger dogs, and the most we get from the Malinois is a quiet stare.

People would get the hell out the way when they saw him coming.
A real challenge to get them to calm down enough to listen.
Once you gain trust though they melt like butter and are extremely loyal to their master.
He unfortunately passed away 2 years ago.
He died in the back seat of my car on the way to be put down.
I miss this guy 😢

I know that pain, when I took Rosie, the dog with the zoomies in the river, in for her annual checkup at almost 17, they discovered she had some internal bleeding, I got to take her home for a couple of weeks while they did some tests, but in the end there was nothing they could do, she was almost 17 and the treatment recovery would have been too tough for her.

17 years is a very good run. Especially for a large dog.
It's still never easy no matter what.

We are going to be dog sitting our son’s Velcro dog starting the 26th

I am anticipating some extreme separation anxiety

I’m also anticipating some not happy moments on my behalf because he lets the dog get away with murder

I’m hoping Kaeleigh keeps her worn out

Was thinking about you yesterday 🤔
Something that will help is when you return home from being out briefly say "hi rover, your a good boy" and then start doing something else. You pretty much want to ignore the dog when you first get home. You don't want to make a big deal of coming home (sane with leaving)

My son's dog is still a puppy and if she doesn't go somewhere with us she will be in a crate while we are gone, unlike our dog Kaeleigh who is trained and has free run of the house

If my son's dog goes with us she will be in a car crate since she is used to sitting in my son's lap while he drives and having free run of the vehicle

That will NOT happen in my vehicles

I regularly take my dog(s) to work with me. I get the strangest looks when I pull up to a new customers house in a Honda civic + 3 dogs

If you're caught driving with an unrestrained dog in my state, it's a $439 fine and some demerit points on your licence. It comes under the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act.

It is illegal to have dogs in the back of a pickup unless they are crated or restrained but I have never heard of anyone actually being charged

I see men and women driving around with "Muffy" dogs in their laps, over their arms, hanging out the window, all the time

Seriously angers me
