Trucks, Vans, Trailers, lets see um!

I prefer a van and just bought a Chevy Express.
I will post pics soon, in the process of getting it wrapped.

Would love to see some cool set ups! :Picture:

Me too! Just purchased a GMC Savana (Chevy Express twin brother) :) Just ordered shelving and getting some vinyl proofs done. Should have it all set up by week's end! Would love to see how yours turns out!

Heres a pic I took of the back when I first put everything in it from my old Astro..

I've been at a fixed location for a year now with no mobile service and have been toying the idea of opening another shop but also thinking about maybe setting up a vehicle for mobile service. I've always been a fan of the economy car idea (being in a rural area jobs can be far away and saving on fuel would help with profit margins) so Scion xb, Ford Transit connect, Honda Element, and HHR are at the top of my list. Subscribing for ideas.

Being mobile would open up a whole new world of clients, they love the idea of convenience. Just toss you their keys while working or at home. Charge an extra $10-$15 bucks on top of your regular prices to more than cover fuel costs. Just not sure how much room you would need in one of the economy vehicles. I personally like to be completely self contained so I take up a lot of room with water tank, pressure washer, and generator. I'm sure a smaller tank than I have (which is way over sized :/) and proper organization would work great but I love the extra room and power. Good luck with your mobile adventure. :dblthumb2:

Oh, I guess I forgot to mention I was mobile for 2-3 years before getting the shop. I'm just starting to outgrow the 2 bay shop and don't want to stomach the overhead of a second shop quite yet so the mobile option would in theory make my shop bigger by using customer garages. When went to a fixed location my business grew exponentially because of the visibility and now I think I could leverage that very well. With a mobile unit I can service customers in towns 20-30 miles away and now that I do enough volume I can spend the money needed on advertising. I never needed a water tank before and don't plan on one. I'm quite skilled in organizing small spaces effectively. I feel the biggest challenge would be finding the right employee with a clean driving record and the work ethic to do the job without supervision.

Just hire me. lol. I'll be your mobile guy. Been wanting to work with you since I first found you online! (as creepy as that sounds)

I use a 7x14 trailer. I got a good deal on it.
I service 2 towns and a military base so I haven't had a issue with it being too large. I love having the space to keep everything organized and readily available. If I was in a bigger city I would want to downsize due to traffic and confined parking.

Funny that your thinking of adding mobile back into the mix now, but it sounds like it could makes sense given your current situation.

If you want something smaller, definitely go HHR, I'd HIGHLY recommend. You can even have a small water tank and generator if you wanted for backup.

Good luck with it man!

Finally got things started last week! Here she is! I was debating between a full sized van and a ford transit connect. I'm glad I went with the larger size van, but I feel like I could have stuffed everything into a transit lwb.

Nice set up, that is too much water weight for that van.Ive gone through so many new fords since 2003 brand new .I was hauling 300 gallon water tank full everyday and the vans just collapse in 2 years tranny promblems all the time eating through tires and wasn't able to keep a alignment.just be on alert if tranny gives you first signs of trouble.Bought a diesel e 350 brandnew as I thought this will be able to end my promblems.not even a year later with 36k my overdrive was flashing on the colum shifter, brought it to ford and reset the code.8 months later tranny was done.so now I keep it small very little weight and no promblems in my transit.

looking nice and proffesional, without lugging water around you will be fine.just neutralize exterior of van every week as windy conditions will etch your finish or the wrap.

you can squeeze 100 gallon water tank in a transit nothing bigger,it's built on a focus platform being mobile you will be busy everyday.

Those metal shelves will rust quickly from chemicals,I know the manufacturing of the shelves were going plastic,as I bought my transit I chucked and pulled out all the metal shelves and built my bulkhead and everything out of marine plywood and coated it with red oil based stain zero rust.also check the necks on those jugs as they will drip or even spill.Ive been doing this longtime spent over 150000 on vans, and this transit is the last one when it goes so will I good luck and make lots of money.

Heres mine

That is so ironic,I was gonna do a dually back in 09 as I went down to arrigo dodge in palm beach ,I picked the same truck color but it was a manual and diesel.I just couldn't get over the monthly payment of 640 a month so I bailed,if your dead set doing this along time that truck will be the way to go period.as vans will only get you tops three years, but it's according to the weight.

just looked at a 5500 diesel for auto transporting 52000 lotta money for these trucks like 950 a month plus fuel and insurance will be doing it next year as a career change.I think it's 4 k just for the decking and the 5'th wheel hook up.

Next one will be a 5500, just pushed the price up too high.
