I wish it was that simple, I had the whole thing apart, carburetor off, driving/calling around trying to get a new carb, when probably all it needed was a shot of starter fluid, but I was in blizzard panic! I did find the sparkplug was pretty loose...from my warranty service the last time it wouldn't start?

Anyway, it's back together, plug tight, and I even learned about a product called "Start Your Engines" that's made by the same people as Stabil (I think we have a forum member who works for the company who can elaborate).

The news is crazy when it comes to weather. Right by my office I55 that heads into Chicago. Every time it's a little snowy or icy you can bet there will be a live news truck stationed there to discuss how terrible the traffic/weather is.

On the other note congrats on being savvy enough to fix your snow blower yourself, most are not. I work for STA-BIL/ Start Your Engines/303 products. I'm glad you had success Start Your Engines. It's basically a fuel rejuvenator with a really aggressive fuel system cleaner to get thing running and clean the system. It's not something AG sells so if anyone has a question PM me.

Yeah, I wish I had tried it before I took the carb off which was a huge project, I swear it was easier on my old Buick, I took the carb apart and of course now I have some sort of fuel leak that I'm trying to track down, the bowl gasket didn't look great but I didn't have a spare, the bad part is having to drain the system again to drop the bowl.

I kind of jumped the gun on pulling the carb because I thought it was the same problem I had when the blower was new where they had a recall because of corrosion in the carbs from the ethanol-containing fuels.

The Start Your Engines is impressive, I didn't even use the choke today or yesterday (although I did give it a shot of starting fluid in the intake when I first tried it yesterday).

They were calling 6-10" in north west new jersey. We got 5". I don't think that's too bad.

Hhhmmm, in my part of north west jersey see post 36, we suppose to get 6-16, then 10-18, then 14-22, then 16-24, and finally back to 10-18. Ended with 3 3/4". Sorry but with all the technology and education it's not cutting it, especially when they get arrogant and belligerent about how "accurate" they are or were.

As I said in my first post, the prediction here was first 20-33", then 15-25", then 17-27", and maybe 8 or 10 hours after that last prediction the storm was essentially over at 4", I mean that's not even close. And that's right from the NWS site, not filtered through the media hype machine, although to be fair NWS always says things like "17-27 inches possible".

Usually the worst storms are the ones they DON'T predict. Kind of a running joke here in WNY that if they start hyping the up coming weather, U can bet it will be no big deal.

Yeah, but when it rains in SoCal everybody drives like it's snow...and they even have grooved highways!

I would imagine it would have stunk for more than a week...that is an incredible amount of snow, let alone at one time.

That is what gets me 7 feet of snow is too much to even imagine , especially in the short amount of time you got it . that too me is historic ! any member here in Mass I feel for you and hope nobody had any serious damage from their 2 feet plus the flood areas.

that book cover is too funny lol ! I know predicting the weather is not easy as mother nature is as we say unpredictable. you hear the forecasters tout all of the technology but in the end mother nature will do as she pleases and there is nothing we can do to change it .

Well, since I live in a blue state, I'll say that I'm not sure that's exactly how "we" feel about it. That being said, it was the administration of our Republican "conservative" wannabe-President Governor that put the travel ban in place here, effectively telling us a) we can't take care of ourselves b) we don't know what's best for us c) we have to be told when, or when not, it's safe to travel...so welcome to the left lane, so to speak.

I live just over the mass border in NH, We got 32". I was amazed how well the plows in my town kept up with the storm. I think the state of emergency keeping the majority of drivers off the road really helped allow the road crews be able to do there job. Less than 12 hours out since snow has stopped and travel is almost completely returned to normal.

I think the primary mistake was considering the forecast as certainty when it. However for transportation, it is hard to react quickly. Of course, many businesses like the optimistic forecasts since it is good for business (watching the media, emptying store shelves, etc).

Had the blizzard actually occurred as forecasted (or even shifted westward more so impacted more), the majority of the actions taken would have improved the recovery from the event.
