Few weeks ago I put 2 coats of CQuartz on my wife's car. Well last week, she came out from work to the parking lot to find her passenger side mirror (glass part) hanging by the wires. Someone had hit the mirror and it crushed the plastic housing, thus causing the glass to pop out and hang there.
It also happened to be really windy that day. So the wind blew and spun the glass mirror relentlessly into her door all day. Her door around the mirror looked like a dog tried digging in through the outside the damage was so bad.
She called a little bit ago from the body shop and their estimate was over $1,100.

What really pisses me off is the complete lack of responsibility and owning up to their mistake by the person that hit her car and just took off. This is twice now her car has suffered a $1,000+ hit and run in that parking lot. I'm also mad that there are no security camera's there. It's a smaller surgical hospital, you'd think they could put a couple up because it isn't a huge parking lot.

So now I will have to order and apply more CQuartz once the fresh paint and clear have cured on top of paying for the damage.

My wife and I have already decided we're going to trade her car in for something much cheaper just because of the damage other people keep inflicting onto it. Sad that you can't have nice things because of other morons ruining it.

I work in a Collision Reporting Centre for our PD and we see so many hit and runs due to the very high cost of insurance. Some people will risk getting caught vs not having to put an at-fault claim into their insurance with the resulting hike to their rates. I love it when we do catch them and jam them up.

Sorry for your bad luck. But why put more CQuartz on it if your only going to get rid of it. The car stealer isn't going to give you any more on the trade.

I would LOVE to see the guilty party brought to justice, but that won't happen.

Because I'm not sure when we're going to, if it's in the next month or 12. So since winter is coming I want it protected from the elements. With as far as the CQuartz goes I think the little "sample" bottle will be enough for at least one coat.

I know how you feel. My old truck got backed into at work and they broke the tail light and bent part of the bed a little. In that same lot someone tried breaking into it 3 times before they were successful on the 4th. I replaced 2 door handles and the lock cylinder each time. Once they got in they tore up the dash. It was a couple thousand worth of damage.

We had cameras but they were no good because they only captured part of the lot.

Car security DVRs are dropping in price. Right now decent ones are in the ~$500 range. As soon as they get into the $200 range, I'll have one in every car.

It's really sad how people are willing to do anything to get by, instead of just doing the right thing as adults should do, karma will catch up to them. :nomore:

Some jack hole scraped his or her white car against my front bumper. Took the paint off in one spot. I just live with it for now...but the person could have at least left a note...

Your wifes car got it a lot worse than I did, but I still feel your pain.

photos? a thousand bucks seem crazy to me. Is your insurance able to help out?

you can buy wing mirrors on amazon or ebay for cheap. its super easy to install. what is this a mercedes with heating, auto dimming and an indicator in the glass and LED lights on the inside along with lane change warnings? Is the windows all scratched up? Do the door need to be air brushed or completely blocked and painted?

I replaced a wing mirror on a camry. 30 bucks on amazon. just plug in and play and the power mirror works perfectly. Be sure it fits for your car/year. I had to spray paint it, so I spent 6 bucks in paint. bought the factory camry white at pepboys, and had some clear coat.
