Sign-up - 1972 Corvette - Extreme Makeover - October 27th

Tonight we're going to put a show car finish on the 1972 Corvette, anyone in the area that would like to help out and learn a few tips and techniques for machine polishing paint is welcome to join in the fun.

Like many cars, from a few feet away the paint looks pretty good...

Bring out the Brinkmann Swirl Finder Light aka the Cruel Master and then inspect...

All the paint, both the black paint and the yellow paint looks like this...

Ouch! That hurts my eyes to look at such ugly swirls on such a cool Corvette!

I heard Nicole, our new Swirl Girl is going to stop by later and inspect our results...

I am sooooooooooo jealous of all of you lucky enough to be there!! :work:

Love to be there but I'll be back in South Florida right after thanksgiving and hope you have another "project" car I could help out on.

Also just to note...

It's cloudy and sprinkling outside so I was not able to get sun shots showing swirls but I'm going out with my trusty, dusty Canon to do so right now. The shots above were taken with my iPhone...

I know this was short notice for this event but the Ferrari I had scheduled canceled. Harleyguy is in route and said he would be happy to lend a hand.

I have a couple of Ferrari's lined up for the future though...

:xyxthumbs:

Just took a quick video to show the swirls and how badly the paint needs to be clayed. Turn your volume up when you see my hand rubbing across the fender and you can hear the contaminants on the paint as I rub it...

My team is out claying the paint right now so I have to get back out to the studio...

:)

Mike, wish I could join you guys. Shei is doing fine. All went well. Say hello to Adam. Look forward to your post.

Couple of questions and comments Mr. Phillips.

1. What camera are you using to take your video?

2. Approximately how long would it take you do all of that polishing yourself? What would say is a reasonable time frame for a single person with little experience?

3. Do you have a how-to post a youtube video instructional article?

4. This car is going to be blinding when it's finished. It's already a stunner.

Time to close down Autogeek's Show Car Garage for the night... here's a few parting shots till tomorrow...

Kyle, who's been to both our Detailing 101 and 102 classes came by to join in the fun, here he is using the Flex 3401 with a Purple Foamed Wool Pad with Prima Swirl...

Oh yea. Nice job on the car fellas :p

Yeah, right.

Sometimes it is soooo difficult to remain family-friendly and respectful on this Forum! I expect Mr. Mean SS would have had good reason to spend her formative years sitting on the porch with a shotgun waiting to meet the potential suitors.

Nice, really nice...... job on that bananamobile youse guys :D

I agree.

I have two girls, Dad has a couple of Shotty's, a few pistols and almost 18 years Law Enforcement......

Get a 50 gallon drum and place her in it and shoot a howitzer at any '70's van with flames out into orbit!

Can't wait for more pix, of the car..... :D

He doesn't need a shotgun...you see the arms on her Dad?
