Silica Content

My car is covered with synergy which is a hybrid wax/coating. I'm wondering if the silica in pa high gloss can bond to the coating part of synergy with the wax being in the way.
 
I'd like to know if the coating refresh products like Cure or OverCoat will bond on top of a sealant as well as they do on a coating. I've used these products on top of my 7 month old coated car and they really bring the life back. The increased beading is dramatic.
 
With synergy, the wax and silica particles bond and intermix, that's why there's that 15 minute haze period when you apply it. PA high gloss probably won't "bond" the way it was meant to but it will sit ontop of synergy without a problem, I think. I know Synergy doesn't last as long on cquartz UK as it would on the PBL paint coating because the coating will shed it and it never establishes a true bond with UK. Stuff like Cure, OverCoat, or Reload will sit ontop of a sealant no problem. You're essentially adding a layer onto the sealant. However the beading will be different, a lot of the coating refresh stuff was designed to create the same beads visually as the coating. I would say that the bond is irrelevant since when it's on top of a coating, it's not the same chemical composition so while it will provide protection due to the Silica content, the two different Silicas in two different solvents won't really interact with each other. Other wise you couldn't put it ontop of a coating while it's fresh, the same Solvent will remove some of the actual coating. A lot of these products basically just stubbornly sit on top, and it was made so that the polymers are tough enough to not be shed by the coating underneath. It's also why these products have such low silica content, the silica in them are dispersed just enough to create a similar shine of sorts, but the silica itself is not the protection but rather the polymers in them. When you look at PA products however, they are made to add more gloss for example to ontop of the coating and will adhere better to the coating underneath as that's how PA likes to create their products, in different layers. Look at the primer that carries the hardening agent, as well as the actual coating that can be applied with a DA since it's like a lotion.

Synergy is a little different, it's literally a mixture of two different items with the same kind of silica strands as PBL paint coating in similar solvents so once PBL paint coating cures, the wax/coating will sit on top of it no issues. It's also why I like their paint cleansing lotion, it won't harm a coating after the coating has cured. I use it once or twice a year just to give the coating a proper cleansing.
 
TiO2 is quite a versatile mineral. It's used commercially as a self-cleaning coating for windows on skyscrapers, as an anti-microbial coating and odor eliminator, and in sunscreen as a highly effective UV blocker. SiO2 is also a pigment used in paints (white) with high hiding power.

As far as I know in ceramic coatings the nano-particle scale of TiO2 particles serve to refract light into the paint creating appreciable depth and a dramatic darkening effect. It also contributes to the self cleaning and UV resistant aspects ceramic coatings are known for.

Use Viking Spritz. It has SIO2, TIO2 & wax
 
I'm going to take my bottle of Viking Spritz, add some wet Coat and then add a couple oz of Menzerna Power Lock.

the surface cleansing polish also wont remove the coating part of synergy either right? i did the pa high gloss yesterday came out good

So you think the reloaded would be good to go on top of synergy? I might pic some up.

If you did High Gloss yesterday, look at it today. IMHO it looks better the next day.
 
Haven't you guys figured this out yet? I'm going for coffee...I'll let you know if there's any silica in there...
 
The surface cleansing lotion won't remove synergy completely but the wax part will probably be damaged by it. I would suggest you wash your car with something that leaves nothing behind if you want to put on another layer of synergy or put another layer on the next day if you've applied a layer. The paint cleansing lotion definitely won't touch coatings, I tried it with cured cquartz uk, glosscoat, cquartz classic high spots and it doesn't do anything to them. I have applied it with a machine to my coated car and pulled off a lot of dirt after a year of a coating being on my car.

Also I would personally never use reload on top if everything. I find it ruins water behavior of whatever coating is underneath and replaces it with something that looks nice but the water doesn't bead off as effectively.
