Good morning.

My buddy and his dad recently had there restored MGB painted with single stage paint. They were not happy with the results so have wet sanded the hood down to 2000 grit. They have asked me to polish it out for them. I am concerned that 2000 grit isn't enough. I have a Flex 3401, all colour pads, Megs 105/205, Wolfgang twins. I have other products as well, and am really unsure what I should try? Hope I have given enough info to at least get an idea.

Thanks

If the 2000 grit is even and uniform, you can start with 105 with an orange pad and work your way up to a more aggressive pad if it doesn't work. If the paint isn't uniformly dull, then you might need to sand more (maybe 2000 again or going down a bit to 1500-1800). After 105, go for 205 and maybe the Wolfgang glaze? I've never used Wolfgang so I don't know if it'll give much benefit after M205.

2000 should be enough in most cases. The most aggressive sand paper I "dare" to use on paint is 1500. Usually 1500 need to be followed by 2500/3000 grit. So I d try my best avoid using 1500.
