Does anybody know if a 2001 toyota tacoma is only partially clear coated? It seems like my hood is clear coated but the rest of the vehicle isn't. The color of the truck is white. Thanks for the help!

No, your truck is a single stage all over. If only its hood is still shiny, about the only reason I can think of would be that you tend to take the most care with the hood.

You asked in another thread about Megs Mirror Glaze #7. It works great on single stage paint. But before that, I would use Megs #1 or #2 cleaners, and after #26 wax.

Not questioning your statement but that is much later than the mid to late eighties when Michael Stoops says clear coats became more prevalent. Is there a reason Toyota did that? I have a 2002 Volvo which I assume is clear coated because when I have polished it I get no black transfer.

Like I said not meant as a challenge just curious.

Check the paint code. 040 is SS. More than likely it is SS.

It loves an AIO every once in a while. My go to is D151 on an orange LC pad.

Checked the paint code yep it's single stage...

Might be worth checking all panels to be 100% certain.

Any body know of any polishes that aren't white? My compound and polish are both white...

Ok will have to look into get a small bottle for test spots! Thanks

IMO:
You just need for your polish-removal-cloths
to be of a darker color than your truck...
in order to check its paint-system "type".
