Single Stage Paints - Yuk!

Today, I had the misfortune to work on a Single Stage Paint; in red.
My foam pad and mircorfiber towels have quite a lot of red paint on them. I can only hope they come out in the wash.

I tired to remove oxidation by hand first; wanted to be very careful. Nothing came out so I went to the Porter Cable which was a lot better. Still, using a orange cutting pad, I wasn't happy with the job. Fortunately, it was a family member's car so I asked to have it back again.

To remove oxidation, swirls and small scratches, what steps would you use?

I believe Mike has an article on single stage paints. I'm sure he will chime in with the link any second now :)
 
The oxidized paint is going to transfer to pads, towels, whatever. What did you expect? Sometimes it washes out, sometimes it does not. I still have some green pads & towels from an old Volvo but they work just fine.
 
The Meg's 80 series polishes work well on SS, that's what they were designed for, I have more than I will ever use, I'll give you a few ounces IIRC you're not too far away. As RTExasF says, sometimes the paint comes out of the pads/towels, sometimes it doesn't.
 
Well, that Blackfire Microfiber cleaner worked. No red on any of the microfiber towels.

I can meet you if you have the time. I live in Sparta, NJ. It's in Sussex County. I would like to purchase some of that Megs 80. Who knows, maybe I'll get another SS job to do.

Maybe we can meet halfway, like in Parsippany. Do you have some sample bottles? I have 80, 81, 82, and 83. I can give you like 4 oz of each, maybe a little less of the 83. I just shook them all, the 80 and 82 sound a little more watery than I remember, but it's been a long time since I used them, I think they should be ok.

Parsippany would be great as I seem to be heading in that direction quite a bit. Unfortunately, I do not have any sample bottles. I'm tying to think if there are some other kind of containers I could use.

Don't sweat it, I have to go someplace in the next day or two that has some.

I remember doing SS when I had cars back then but never remember that much paint transfer. Although, I never had a red car. I guess what I'm trying to say is all that Ed really stands out compared to my boring colored cars.

Yeah, well, I got some sample bottles, doled out a sample of #'s 80, 81, 82, 83, PM'd you on 9/1 with my cell phone number and....nothing. Is this the last time I try to do something nice for a local member? Maybe.
