Hi
Please can you tell me the benefits of either of these two.
I currently use Wolfgang Paint sealant 3.0.

Thanks

When you say "spray coatings" are you talking about something like CanCoat or CQuartz Lite?

If so, I've found CanCoat to last a couple months longer than other sealants I tried and the self cleaning properties and the water beading/sheeting are just like a traditional coating. I know looks are subjective, but I found CanCoat to have the more "candy coating" look of a coating you typically don't see in a sealant as well.

SiO2 sprays bead and self-clean better (so easier maintenance/washing) and are easier to apply.

Traditional sealants like WG “seem” to protect slightly better against contaminants and water spotting, but this isn’t scientific... it could just be in my head but laying down a serious coat and buffing off seems more substantial to me.

Looks are subjective, but in general I like the glassy/shiny look of SiO2 sprays more, but it really is case-by-case, product-by-product. WG for instance looks fantastic to me and most others. Better IMO than the cheaper or mid-range SiO2 sprays.

To me:
-Adding “Silica” to car-care products
isn’t the application of phenomenally
new technology.

Example:
•Remember Meguiar’s NXT 2.0? (I do.)
-Yep, it is a Sealant that has “Silica” in it.
-And it exhibits many of the same character-
istics of these so called “latest and greatest”
Silica car-care offerings.

Re: Sio2 Spray Coatings vs Sealants
•Does WDGPS (a Sealant) contain Silica?
-[Can’t say for sure, without a program (SDS)].
-But with the amazing results that it offers:
it doesn’t matter one iota to me if there’s
any Silica in it, or not.

Editorial:
-Whether they’re the old-school version;
or, the modernist renditions; Silica infused
car-care products are, AFAIC, all fine & well.

-It’s the current Silica-hype that can
quite often be off-putting.

Looking at something that bridges the gap between Coatings and Sealants. Don't want to do the preparation with the Coatings. It would be good to be able to top a wax or sealant that adds the coating benefits.
Cancoat fall into this?

CanCoat still needs somewhat of a prepped surface. Meaning it performs best with a light polish and prep wipe. Same goes for Cquartz Lite. Perhaps you should consider Mothers CMX or Meguiar's Hybrid Ceramic Wax.

Was actually thinking of those two specially Mothers CMX. Would there be any advantages over WGPS?
What about Blackfire sio2 spray sealant, Mike seemed to like it?

I mentioned the advantages above, basically the car should stay cleaner, and washes might be easier... plus the CMX/BF might add a nice synergy with DGPS... ya never know until you try.

spray and wipe or spray and rinse anything will always be easier and cheaper to apply as they dont require a machine or elbow grease. What I think is important to remember is that there isn't a product out there that will polish your paint via spray and wipe or spray and rinse. And there really isn't a car out there, even new that doesn't need some level of correction prior to applying your LSP.

As far as longevity, shine, beading etc. Man there are so many opinions out there and not one truly correct answer. It comes down to what you're really looking for and what your free time will allow.

BF SiO2 is great stuff. Longevity is superb and it beads nicely and its glossy. I'd say the same for Megs HCW. But I have a hunch the BF will last longer (no proof). The megs is super easy.

Tried the CMX on the weekend as a standalone LSP. Looks good not sure against the WGPS though maybe a different type of look. Longativity will be interesting.
