So How Do YOU ONR?

I've had good results with 1oz ONR to 2gallons water. I only use a grit guard in my rinse bucket and use 2 dry drying towels to dry.

And as you know I use 1oz of OCW in my solution to achieve a wash and wax.

My wash media of choice is a lowes grout sponge.

It is only $5.99. I would still buy if it only lasted 5-10 times. I feel like it really protects the paint because I can get the soil out easily. I have used it on fairly dirty vehicles and when you rinse often, using two bucket method, it really is safe on the paint.

I also tend to use more ONR because I rinse often and the sponge picks up quite a bit of ONR. Of course that is an advantage IMO because it makes it super safe.

I forgot how cheap it was. I also like how easily it was to release all the dirt from the sponge. I think I had about 3 gallon of wash, which was enough to wash whole car and wheels/wells.
 
I have used LC sponge on Black 2008 Toyota 4Runner multiple times.

Of course, everyone has there own preferences on wash media. Nobody is right, nobody wrong.

I've seen this before...grout sponge...I'll have to try that. I'm hoping to get good results with the LC Sponge tomorrow. I may have to experiment with the XMT 360 added to the wash. That would be interesting.
 
I sometimes use ONR in spray bottle for presoak on heavy soiled areas also. You can never be too cautious. I use about 1/2 ounce in a standard quart spray bottle.
 
1/2 ounce in a 32 ounce bottle? Is that the same dilution as QD?
 
I too was a fan of the LC grout sponge, but mine didnt last very long at all. Maybe 5-6 washes. And after that, all the foam pieces would break off and they would be floating around in my buckets. I might buy another one again and try using less pressure. But even so, I wasnt using a lot of pressure to begin with, enough to get the vehicle clean. My 0.02 cents..

I saw someone post that they use the Cobra bone, how do you like it? It is on BOGO currently.
 
1 bucket 3gallons of warm water
2 sponges, one for upper and lower panels
waffle weave to dry
then use the dirty water to clean wheels.

Mine came apart after 3 months use. so its in half and I just use them on lower panels. I like the design so I use a box cutter knife and cut grout sponges from home depo just like the LC sponge. I feel like the design makes a difference. I wouldn't spend 5 bucks on a sponge though
 
I'm going be more careful ringing the sponge now. Don't want to buy one every 5 washes.

The majority of wash media's for ONR, that I've read people are using, are the cobra bone's and the LC Sponge. I say go for it and we all can compare notes.

Let us know how the wax works... Maybe do half car with ONR and other with ONR/Wax.... or whatever you think.

It would be cool if it works. A time saver for sure. Personally, I think it won't be effective as doing the wax after ONR. But I hope I'm wrong.

I may try it out next weekend...I'm gonna shoot for trying out the sample of BFWD that Ben sent me. But when I do I'll let you know.

Let us know how long it takes to cut and cost of sponges. Also long time durability would be nice.

I'm sure your gonna need a new blade to make it easy.

Personally, I think I would just buy a new sponge even if it is every 5-6 washes. Absorbs a ton of soil and releases a ton. Protecting the paint is more important of price of sponge. Heck it only costs two gallons of gas now.

But if it is cheap and easy enough to do-it-yourself I would reconsider.

Maybe a write up with pictures? If possible!

Grout sponge are 2 dollar each or 10 dollars for six. Cutting them shouldn't take more then a few minutes. I will post some pics up when I get a chance to pick one up.
