Did you have a lot of success with ad words? Any idea many many clicks actually got you business?

I've been using ad words but only two potential customers with 33 clicks in the last 2 weeks.

Informative article, Scott.

Does anyone have information about how to list the address if the business is mobile. I do not want to list my home address and Google will not accept a post office.

Thanks!

I have had two clicks in in three weeks. Whether ad words helped I do not now. I do know that two people found me using an internet search and one person found me on Craigslist.

Still can't find out how to list on google, yahoo, etc. someone wanna help? Lol

I tried Google Adwords for a few weeks got about 25 clicks and about 4 new customers. What really help was having 6 reviews on google so the stars show. The one thing my last 4 customers told me was the reason they picked me over the other 2 guys was my website and when they called it was how I explained things to them to educate them on what they needed to get done.

For Yahoo it takes 8-10 weeks for a basic business profile to be listed

Google adwords will only tell you where the customers are coming from, the websites used and the words used to find your site. I have done some manual analytics myself over the past few years while running my window cleaning business. Like asking customers how they found me. There were a few from Angies List, bing, yahoo, but the majority of the clientele said Google, Facebook, and LinkedIn.

So my focus this time around with the detailing business will be a Google Places listing, using Facebook and LinkedIn campaigns, and radio commercials. All of my new company shirts will display business name, QR code, facebook and linkedin symbols, number, and facebook web address.

Social Media has become the norm of our lives. Those who do not use it for business or are not computer literate to use it at all are losing out.

I started from completely nothing, zero, zilch, nada, $0 dollars.

Ok a few questions.

I do not have a commercial location, I am mobile. I don't want people showing up at my place so I can't really put my address in Google places...

What would you do? I want to promote using those services but it seems an address is needed...

They won't i had 1300 views a month and none showed up at my door....plus you can hide your address in google, but it may hurt some ranking...depends how tough comp is... In my area out 7 possible local listings only 3 are verified

Anyone having trouble getting listed in the Google+ business list on the first page? My website is organically on the first page of google but, I really believe it is important to be in the Places list. Despite my best efforts, mine is nowhere to be found. I understand it is an algorithm that decides who makes that list and that it takes time and proper SEO optimization but I've done citations, social media sites, seo keywords, etc and it just wont show up. Anyone have similar trouble and find a solution?

Do you have a google+ page for your business? That's all it really takes to be listed.

For example here's mine: https://plus.google.com/+Incrediblydetailed/about

The businesses listed when someone searches will be geographically biased so if you aren't located close to the area or in the area they are searching you won't show up. Reviews also help with you ranking higher on google+ places/local.

Hey Scott,

Yes I do have have a Google+ page, updated info, pics, verified, etc. From what I've read on the google webmaster forums, quality of the website has influence on placement in the places listing. I just figured since my website is on top/middle of first page, it was pretty good and would be worthy of the places/local list.
