Some nice pads for softer paint....

Go ol’ LC flat orange and white pads. The orange should be able to take care of most defects with a quality compound. Good pad as a 1-step as well. The white pad finishes fantastic. These wouldn’t be my first choice for cutting or 1-steps on harder paint.

I love the LC Flat pads. All I use are those and the Thin Pro's.

I can use a finishing polish on the white to clean up my daily drivers with soft paint. On hard German paint like what you see with black metalic BMW's and VW's, I can use a white pad with a compound (Blackfire SRC or the new compound in my case) as a one-step and it turns out great. I got some great 50/50 and before/after shots on my new car using this combo. Sadly I don't have access to those pictures at work to post them up right now.

In both cases, dropping down to the orange will take care of just about anything I encounter as someone who does this as a hobby.

Yep, agree with your thoughts. I have the orange and white thin pros, but find they do not finish as good as the LC flat orange and white. Thin pros may cut more, especially the orange. Never done side by side, though.

LC flats are definitely my favorites. I have Thin-Pros, Hydro-Techs, and Boss pads as well. But I just feel the Flats are a better pad.

And no pad has worked as good with HD Speed as my good old Orange Flats!

Have you tested the Carpro Gloss pads to finish on softer paints? They are very well liked on the domestic forum. Also the orange medium cut polishing pad from Carpro is liked when you need the little extra on softer paints. I only see them in the 2" kit sadly. But they are available in 5.5" and 6.5" too.

I use another brand when polishing soft paints and are not sold on AGO. We sadly don't have distribution of the LC pads here in Sweden. Otherwise they have a lot of interesting pads that I would have tested.

I rarely do 2 steps, so a dedicated finishing pad such as the gloss pad won’t work for me. The orange pad looks interesting.
