Hi all,

im wondering if anyone has noticed that certain detailing products seem to attack bugs. Notably I used PNS absolute rinseless wash recently. Its a solid product (though maybe not my favorite rinesless), but I noticed every time i use it, bugs seem to land on my car. There were probably 5-6 flies, ants crawling on it etc. Parked where i always parked. Hasnt happened before or since, just when i use Absolute. I am wondering if anyone else runs into this.

I haved used certain Australian product's that attract bugs, Mostly bees and other insects i think they either like the smell of said product or the shine it leaves.

So yes it can happen.

Well I walk out the door and the fu#*in mosquitos are literally swarming me... oh you said 'detail product' that attracts bugs.

I remember using McKee’s 37 SiO2 Auto Wash which smells great, like watermelons, and every time I washed bees would come to the area I was washing. I guess they also liked the smell. But once done washing they were gone.

And bead maker attracts dust, not bugs :)

I can confirm some colors attract bugs too View attachment 76684

Agree. Our pearl white MDX attracks bugs worse than any other color I've owned. Any time I do any detailing work on it, washing, polishing, LSP application, doesn't matter; there are tons of small flying insects all over it - of multiple varieties. Very frustrating.

Attack, or Attract?

I'm confused here.............. ;)

Every time I used P&S BeadMaker, it attracted bugs. It was so slick they could not land in the vehicle, however.

Is there two reasons for this? Shine/reflection and/or scent?
