Some questions about customers...

maybe 40 to start, but i think around 50 an hour with supply costs included is a great place to work up to.

first, everyone excuse the typos and spelling, I'm currently on my treo typing the response...

thanks guys. I'm going to look into the mizner park thing, thanks surfer.

I like all areas, correction, detail, and wash. so, I don't mind doing all of them, per what the customer wants. do you all think starting at $40 an hour is a good choice? also, how much should I accommodate for product costs or is this part of the $40?

I don't kbow what it is, but the detailing process calms me down, puts me in the zone, figuratively speaking. I love spending a lot of time to make things look good. likewise, I love to use new products that are especially effective, not much different than anyone on ag.net.

thank you all again very much for your help. keep the info coming.

I would speak with a lawyer ASAP about licensing and insurance. It all depends on what your insurance rates cost you. And what products you use. Buying in bulk is the key. It all depends on what your insurance rates cost you.

Get an LLC and you can write off what detailing products you buy as a business expense on your taxes. Mike...

(Limited Liability Corp.) for those who don't know what LLC means..

Also the most common small business in the US.

If you talk to an attorney also ask them about a LLC (Limited liability company) depending upon what state you live in the attorney will let you know if this would benefit you and the attorney would be able to help you establish a LLC. You should talk to an accountant about what you can and can not deduct from your taxes every year as well. Mike...

Dude you will land somebody there, I don't know if they allow solicitation type papers to be placed on cars parked outside in the park, but I've seen people do it in the parking garages in the back for other businesses. I mean com'on, there were two Enzo's parked in front on valet the other day, somebody has got to want a detail LOL.

I think this is what you should do, get comfortable with your pricing (and since I'm assuming your not doing this as full time income being a college student and just more of a hobby that provides play cash), maybe price a little more then the 3 Large Detail Places here (Foxes on Dixie, and the 2 places across from each other just past where Glades and Federal meet near that place Bova). Maybe go check their prices for what they do and go from there.

You can offer more b/c as far as I know I don't believe any of those does any real corrective work short of maybe a heavy filler glaze thats properties will wear off quickly.

hey hey guys, im not looking into starting a small business, im just looking into a small part time money maker for the poor college kid in me. however, if things take off, you never know.

That's what I plan on doing this summer. Nothing real major.

Depending how well this summer/year goes, then I'll seriously look into more advertising, insurance, trailer, business license, etc. etc.
