I'm really considering this due to price point and perceived ease of use. In addition, I've always found DG products to perform as advertised.

A few questions before I make the jump:

If a layer or two is applied over a weekend and another layer is added later, is it a good idea to then use SC again?

I know the cure period is 24 hours. I like to use aw or UWW as a drying aid. Is that an issue or is there some additional waiting period?

Any other thoughts are appreciated.

No need for squeaky clean again. That would partially remove what u have on there I would think. From what I've read you can use the AW or UWW+ after the 24hr. I love this coating you won't be disappointed.

Thanks. I was under the impression you would want to use SC to remove any aw, contamination, etc. I was also under the impression it would NOT remove the coating since it is not abrasive.

I doubt the SC would remove the coating. So I would probably give it a try if I were to attempt a later coating.

I'm not sure what to tell you on the layering after it's cured. Some coatings are okay, some are not. That answer would likely need a call to DG.

I've only used mine a little bit, but I found it to flash really fast and be difficult to remove the residue. I find Opti-Coat easier.

I doubt the SC would remove the coating.

I believe someone posted an email excerpt from Ben or Jerry (oh wait a minute...they are the ice cream guys) that said not to clay the coating as it would be detrimental.

Forget layering it. Do it once. Do it right. That's all you need. Its impressive to say the least. UWW works fine as does AW or DG rinseless wash if you're into rinseless washing.

Does the kit come with enough of the coating to do multiple cars ?

OMG yeah, I have done 2 mid sized sedans and barely used half of it...prolly 3/8 really. The last car I put it on "thick" on purpose and had alot of streaking but they all buffed off by just wiping the towel over it.

I would say safely (I used the 1 spray per panel the first time) you can get 4 or 5 Chevrolet Malibu's out of one kit.

The first time I felt I went too thin, so the next time I went "thick", and I had a heck of a time getting the streaking off, it was cool in in the shade too.

Man that looks great!

Thanks!!! I tried to put it on thicker cause you can see the Malibu isnt AS shiny. I went a tad too thick. This is how I did it, I dont know if you waited too long or what.

In garage
Temps about 73
Apply to whole car (Sometimes 2 sprays sometimes 3 depending on panel size)
Immediately after whole car done wipe with dry towel

All the streaks came out without much if any effort. I was even being bothered by a neighbor while doing it...thats how easy it was.

Based on what I read in that thread (and a few others), this coating is less than impressive. The price of it also gives hint to its level of performance.

If you plan on coating, I would highly recommend the 2014-edition of CQuartz UK. I've yet to see anything else in the consumer market that comes close to its dirt-repellency, ease of maintenance and gloss (if you keep it topped with Reload).

When it comes to DG, price has no bearing whatsoever on performance. I've actually polished off CQUK and replaced with the DG coating. CQ darkened my tinted clear coat to the point of ruining the look and making the paint look like single stage. I was so p####ed. DG didn't change the look and in fact looks crazy good on my car as well. Its easier to apply than either wax or sealant. I saw no difference in dirt repelling or water sheeting.

I used AW on my car after applying DGNCC, as both a drying aid and spraying on dry w/o a problem. Although the bottle is small you really only need 1-2 sprays per panel, depending on the size of the car, so you've got plenty!

You're one of the few exceptions. If I had to guess, you probably also applied two coats of UK? I've found that UK does darken paint, but only if you apply two coats; if you apply one coat, the darkening should not be as significant as you described...but ymmv.

Most people are very happy with the 2014-edition UK, including myself. Judging from everything I've read and experienced myself, I do think it's the best consumer-market coating out there.

The only thing to remember with these "glass" coatings is that they deteriorate in the same way as a paint sealant -- it's going to look its best on day 1. Unlike Opti-Coat, the appearance is not going to stay the same. For instance, my car has been washed a few times since install (which was a few weeks ago), and it has already lost some of its gloss. The water beading and performance properties are still unchanged, but the appearance has certainly deteriorated.

See, this is the issue I'm having with DGNCC, the gloss...where has it gone in 2 monthes? The beading and sheeting were still there but not the shine, this is why I re-applied it but to be on the safe side, I applied a coat of #915 as a "security blanket" I really only noticed this after I pulled the car from out down in the garage and the sun hit it, WHOA!
