I decided to put this here rather than show and shine since my pics didn't come out. I wish it was better but it's all I've got for now. Sorry.
Hello everyone. J When I was recently on vacation up in Georgia I detailed my mother’s car. I took several pictures before, during and after the detail, but unfortunately I only have a 35mm camera and only of a couple of the pictures came out. L I’m sorry. I know that’s not what you want to hear, but until I get my digital camera it’s all I’ve got. L I started the detail with a wash dry and clay and then applied PB’s 2.5 and 1.0 with the Polishing Pal. After the polishing was complete I used the XMT Carnauba Finishing Glaze and then Souveran. The results were awesome! I WISH the pics had come out.
My mother’s car is 9 years old and the paint is in pretty bad condition. The front bumper and the back sides of the side mirrors are covered with etchings from bug guts that were left for who knows how long before being washed off. They have eaten through the paint and are beyond my abilities to remove. Her hood has stone chips and her rear bumper has deep scratches from the garage door coming down on it. The paint is covered in swirls. Each time I have worked on her car it looks much improved over the time before and I will work on it again now that I have my PC, but I know that I cannot work miracles. Previously when I worked on her car I used application pads to apply the polishes, but the Polishing Pal made a tremendous difference in what I was able to achieve by hand. I knew that I wouldn’t be able to get out much if any of the swirls in her paint, but I was pleasantly surprised by how much the Polishing Pal was able to accomplish. In the past when I would look at my mother’s paint I would first notice the color and then secondly notice the swirls. After using the Polishing Pal the finer swirls were eliminated and the paint clarified enough that I was able to see the orange peel clearly. Who would ever think that seeing orange peel would be considered an improvement?? LOL
But I cannot say enough good things about the polishing pal. It is limited in what it can do, but it accomplished far more than I ever anticipated it would. For a person who is saving up for a PC it is a great tool to use in the meantime and even after you have your PC it is still useful for hard to reach areas. The shape of it is very comfortable to hold and that made a tremendous difference for me since the polishing took 2 days on my mom’s car. The pads that come with the Polishing Pal are smaller versions of the Lake Country pad system. They are high quality and very well made. They performed their tasks above and beyond my expectations.
The XMT glaze is my new favorite. I used to use #7 and loved it before I tried out the XMT glaze. I could see the difference as soon as I started applying it to the surface of the paint. It went on smoothly, spread out well and removed like a dream. There was no dust to speak of and no staining of any kind on trim pieces. It made the paint deeper, wetter and improved the clarity of the reflections. This is an awesome glaze and I highly recommend it. J
After the glaze I applied Souveran as my LSP. Ay, what can I possibly say about this wax?? It produced the deepest, wettest most clear reflections of any wax I have ever seen. I absolutely LOVE this stuff! This is the best wax there is IMHO and I cannot imagine anything else even coming close to the results achieved with Souveran. So that is my review. Thank you all for reading it and again I apologize for the pics. I have to quit buying so much detailing stuff so that I can get myself a good digital camera.
The only shots that came out were the ones off of the roof of her car and one off of her hood. I hesitate to even add the roof one because the picture is blurry, but it's all I had. I know so lame! Sorry. The reflections are of the flower wreaths that she has hanging on the wall of her basement and the lighbulb that hangs from the ceiling. The dark colored dots are the knots in the wood on the basement wall.
