While many people seem to think Lexus Black is single stage, it seems like I have read that Lexus uses a tinted clear.

I know Toyota and Lexus used single stage paints in past on flats like red and black but thought someone suggested they are now cleared also.

Yeh I remember in the past Lexus/Toyota used a lot of single stage paints. I think they only went to tinted recently.

One of my customers had just purchased a new black Lexus SUV and they were told by the salesman to be aware that only the blk lexus' didn't some with a clearcoat. Not too long ago i also was called to a brand new Infinity G37, that had been badly scratched by one of the so called upscale car salons in here in Aventura. My pads were also turning red and of course the same when i wet sanded it first. For some reason, unknown to me, some maufacturers still don't use a clear coat on some of their colors.

one ov my buddys does paintless dent repair and he ran into the same thing, and when i done my aunts car i got the black pads too:buffing:(the car is a 07) i guess its a tinted clear. kinda odd made me think it was a single stage
