Wondering what to use that's easily applied to all the corners and edges that are found on plastic windshield cowls. I was thinking about using 10min paint sealant from M37, but maybe there is something that would be easier? I'd like something to last longer than PERL, but also nothing like ceramic coating level product. That would require too much in terms of perfect prep.

Also has to be easy to apply and hopefully walk away once applied.

Suggestions?

I use Optimum Spray Wax.

WETS or McKee's Plastic Trim Restorer.

They both last for months, and application is very easy.

:iagree:

Also, I've found that proper surface prep really prolongs these sealants' performance. I used McKee's Wax Remover (which also doubles as a plastic cleaner) per their suggestion.

Yes sir, as with pretty much any product.

For any lurkers on here: You can't just apply these products to unwashed, dirty trim and expect a miracle.

Black Wow or Solution Finish then maintain with PERL or whatever you choose here and there. Small bottles of each available in AG store. These products are super easy to apply and give you amazing performance and both play well with being topped.

No sealant that’s made for the paint will outperform a quality specialized trim product. Carpro Reload is just 1 example of a liquid spray on paint sealant that falls flat when compared to just about any trim protectant.

The ones mentioned already [WETS & McKee’s] get great reviews.. I personally use the Blackfire Total Trim & Tire Sealant.

It’s an easy to apply gel/balm and it’s been 2 months and it’s still looking good and doesn’t attract dust + survives washings.

Not a good comparison of Reload vrs. a trim coating. You seem to like Blackfire Trim and Tire Sealant..try using Blackfire spray sealant on that same plastic cowl and see how long it lasts.

The reason I brought up Reload was because there was mention of McKee’s 10 min. Paint Sealant and Optimum Spray Wax earlier in the thread and I’ve never seen a product that was meant for paint work better than a dedicated trim sealant.

Are you trying to say that Blackfire Spray Sealant will outlast and outperform the Trim Sealant? If so I would be willing to bet it wouldn’t..

RE: Blackfire Trim and Tire Sealant.

How can this be considered a
dedicated trim Sealant?

Even its name says otherwise.

Total Trim and Tire Sealant. It does both. I’ve never tried it on tires but it sure fits the bill on plastic & rubber trim.

Just the opposite.. just like Reload would not last on plastic as Dlux would.

Here's your comparison:

•TT&TS does both? = Not a dedicated trim Sealant.
-How about: Multi-purpose.

•Optimum Car Wax = Not a dedicated trim Sealant.
-How about: Also Multi-purpose.
-and it has patented UV-A/B absorbers, to boot.

•Oh yeah:
-I’ll take $5.00 worth of that Sealant bet
you proposed earlier. The Opponents:
-O.C.W. (a Sealant) vs. BF T.T. & T. Sealant.

What about application on a cowl like this... I have no idea how I would get it all in those corners etc... Make it even etc

Our friend Justin would remove the cowl, and spray his favorite trim sealant on all surfaces.

^^^:iagree:

•Using a Sealant, that comes in spray form,
would definitely allow you to not only reach
and evenly coat all those corners...but all
other areas of the cowl as well.
-A Sealant...like Optimum Car Wax...
comes to mind.

•Note:
-Whether or not you remove the cowl,
is solely your decision to make.
-For the record: I’ve done it either way:
with the cowl on; or, with the cowl removed.

Optimum car wax I didn't think was a sealant for plastic trim. I was hoping to use something dedicated that isn't water based. I have PERL but it washes off too fast, being water based
