Son1c 's Home Brew Carnauba Wax - ProtoWax -> Picture Heavy

Drew, love the in-depth video on #81...would LOVE to grab one of those 200 samples coming in April! Keep on tweaking and sharing it all with us...i look forward to all the updates and testing results. I also enjoyed hearing the birds in the background...its finally warming up here in CT, so i imagine them coming up here over the next few weeks.

Thanks Scott! I tried to take this video further than just a short clip of beading & sheeting. Was hoping it wasn't too long. Would be more than happy for you to have one! I will post an update within 1-2 weeks about the big sample run and how to obtain one (it'll be easy :D )

Hope it warms up for you soon, and warmer for me as well haha

Could you describe what you look for in a wax?
consistency, soft/med/hard, durability, what looks, smell?, color?, what size of a container/content?
This question is also open to anyone else who would like to provide input

Medium hardness (something like Dodo Juice light fantastic), 3+ months durability, don't care about scent as long as it's not bad, a bright color so it can be seen on any paint color when applying, and a container 3in+ in diameter so it's easier for those who like to apply a wax by machine.

I don't know if you have used it, but Adam's Americana is pretty much my favorite except it has no color and the smell makes me want to throw up.

I used it twice in 2012, I need to revisit it but from what i recall I favored other waxes and it does smell awful lol (in my opinion)

appreciate all of the input! I would say 81 is somewhat similar to light fantastic if you have used the soft waxes by auto finesse I'd say it's pretty similar to those

What's your least favorite wax? Why?

I don't want to say a least favorite, but what I don't like is rock hard waxes, waxes that take more than 5 minutes to haze, waxes that do not spread thinly easily, and waxes that last less than a month.

that's a better idea -- naming qualities you do not like and thanks for the answer

You've pretty much described the opposite of protowax 82 also lol ;) (ex. has all the qualities you're looking for)

Hey Drew,

what i am looking for in a wax...soft to medium texture, easy on, more importantly easy off, and a nice hazing, would really like a nice slick finish, and something that smells good (not chemically). Would like a nice size container of it, not anything monstrous, something a little more than your carnubavore, but even that amount is fine. I think the most important feature for me, is easy off...awesome beading certainly helps as well :props:

So with every endeavor you have success, and failure. I've been so close for so long with my new wax strand formulation. I was getting extremely frustrated. I thought I had made the breakthrough but my celebration was too soon. An error needed to be resolved, formulation after formulation I have created over 100 unique formulations along with many repeat pours. As thoughts of burning the Waxatory down raged, I rose from these mental ashes and have created my best waxes yet. They're how I have envisioned my perfect waxes and I'm finally there. With some minor tweaking I have the best waxes I have ever created and waxes I believe many people will enjoy for their ease of use, user friendly/sun friendly, hydrophobic nature, looks, depth, gloss, clarity, and much more.

That's all really where I'm aiming to put this next wax :D
I'll take a sample for a spin! And if I can't I'll buy it when it's out anyway!
Thanks for the interest and support Chris! I'll make sure that a sample gets into your hands :xyxthumbs:

Me too dude. I've been going to war with my fiancé about buying some Carnubavore and she always says I can get any wax at auto zone that will do the same thing. I figure if I can show her on her car, she will stop giving me grief and give me the green light to buy from you. Her SUV has beautiful charcoal black paint with lots of flake

Drew, you will be up too proto wax 100 in no time. Please put me down for one of your 200 samples. Thanks a lot.

I'm in. And I very highly doubt that there's anyone here who wouldn't want a sample f on you! Are you planning on bringing some to TDs detail day in April?

I like the easy on easy off feature the most in a paste wax. I like the least in my wax the smell of chemicals...youre a professional I'm sure youll make a great product. I feel weird giving u an answer lol.

My plan with the sample (if I do ended up with one) is to hand it to my brother. And if he tries to get more off of my container...

If you'd ever like me to chat with her on some of the differences between the two I would be glad to :D My waxes are much more than a basic OTC wax
