Got a chance to mess around with this product for the first time today. I took a picture before, then a picture each minute as it dwelled (1, 2, and 3) and then a final pic after using my brush/wheel woolie.

It worked well and it really cleaned up the barrels nicely, but I think I prefer P21S overall. The smell of this stuff is indescribably bad & I felt like it wasn't as "safe" for the wheels if that makes sense.

Anyway, here are the pics:

Superior work on those wheel Sonax FE plus really proves its cleaning potential

I never get any color-changing wheel cleaner to work like that, I'm lucky to see a few spots of red...I must drive too slow.

Sonax should be safe on all wheels, but not necessary each time you clean them, unless you let them go for a while.

HUMP

Sonax FE should be safe to use as much as you want if used as directed. The question comes in: how much do you want to spend on wheel cleaner?

I'm assuming this is on your own personal car? The real trick is to get low dust ceramic brake pads and coat your wheels with a coating. After that, you won't need any color changing wheel cleaners. A few bottles of wheel cleaner will pay for new pads - assuming you are able to hang them yourself.

Yeah, personal vehicle. Curiosity got the best of me to see whether I'd prefer this over P21S... but this stuff is expensive - the amount I used on my vehicle had to cost more than $5 worth of product.

I'd consider it a 2/year wheel "deep clean" with some AIO / soap used with agitation for maintenance washes.

I love Sonax FE+ so much I bought 25 liters! But, just as Hump Diesel said... No need to use it every wash, especially if you protect your wheels (Which you should be doing anyway), all one needs is soap and water. I OC'd my wheels exactly 13 months ago and have never used a wheel cleaner on them. They were new when I bought them so all I did was normal prep (IPA) and coat them. I top them with ReLoad every now and then though because the beading is insane.

Usually, all that's needed is high pressure water to clean them off if I've gone weeks between washes. But if the build-up is too intense for the pressure rinse, I take some wheel woolies and some wash soap (ReSet) and that is plenty aggressive to tackle the brake dust.

I will say that I had put on ceramic brake pads when the wheels were new, so it's not like Sonax would really do all that much anyway, so why waste the money?

I only bought one 16oz bottle to try and was impressed for it's performance.
But for the price and amount usage per wash, i switch to APC or rather change new rims and protect from beginning.
Thinking of Dlux 😁

Quite frankly, I'm sure the new Sonax FE is great. However, you can save major $$$ by just getting Dub Wheel Cleaner by Megs at your local Pep Boys. It's the same color changing / iron removing tech as Sonax - but it's literally about 1/2 the price (~ 8.99 for 22oz).

It seems to work quite well for me. I use it every so often to deep clean the wheels. AG needs to carry this.

I agree, just used the DUB wheel cleaner for the first time a couple of weeks ago and was impressed.
