Hey all. I'm getting ready to execute my winter detail on my yukon. I have only used collinite 476 since I got her in 07. I love the way it beads water and protects.

I have been reading a lot about the Sonax polymer net shield lately and I'm thinking about giving it a try this winter. I realize they are both great products and will most likely last a fair amount of time. However, would one last longer and protect from the winter elements better?

I'm also hearing conflicting advise about the application of Sonax. Will I have to do an eraser wipe down before the application? I just put a layer on 476 about a month back. I am also planning on spot claying because I clayed the whole truck a few months back.

Thanks for any feedback friends.

Regards,

Brian

I use the net shield in winter it works great, holds up and lasts all winter for me, I touch it up with sonax BSD. Very good products..

I would top it with the Collinite 476; no need to change when it's a proven performer:dblthumb2:Awesome stuff!

You should have a squeaky clean surface before applying any sealant...period, otherwise why waste the money and time? Either product gets you through the winter. PNS is a game changing product in so far as post washing/drying. Its as close to touchless maintenance as anything I've used including coatings. I only need to foam, pressure wash, and wipe dry using a waterless wash...no buckets anymore. Last winter was brutal and I put my car through over 20 commercial touchless carwashes and the car looked like I just did a full detail. Words can't do PNS justice. I'd apply it in warm weather. Don't top it with a lousy wax...leave it alone and hit it with a waterless wash like UWW after washing it every couple of washes. I take my car to all the local car shows so I'm very meticulous about how it looks. Its also a DD.

If you have been using 476s since 2007 why change now? You know what to expect.

SPNS is the Bees Knees. I absolutely love the stuff!!

I like both but I like the the look you get from PNS.

I just finished this X3 and protected it with PNS

I like pns. The application is a bit tricky, but the beading and dirt release are great. Don't think you can go wrong with either.

What did you have difficulty with?

When I use it I just do a small section(2'x2') at a time and buff off immediately. I've actually found it to be one of the simplest products to use.

^^^:iagree:^^^

Every time I think about applying an LSP,
that's in an aerosol can, it reminds me of
the words in the chorus of a Jim Croce song:

"You don't tug on Superman's cape;
You don't spit into the wind...."

Thanks everyone for the feedback. To be honest, I have been very happy 476. However, after all the posts on how great Sonax has been, I just wanted to make a change to see for myself.

What towels do you find the best at buffing off PNS?

I use the long nap of a 530 grey microfiber towel for application and the short nap side of another 530 for removal.

Everytime I read your posts I picture someone smashing their head against a keyboard several times and then hitting submit.

You spray onto an applicator and then apply to the paint. Very simple.

I'm a long-time Colli 845 user and I love the stuff...I hear 476 is even better durability-wise.

That said, I tried PNS for the first time earlier this summer and wow. I'd place Colli and PNS on the same level, but they excel in diff categories. As far as chemical resistance/dirt shedding...the PNS is amazing. It also beads in a very unique way; very hard to describe. PNS also "feels" different. With Colli, your paint feels slick, but with PNS the car's paint feels like it's been "coated" with something--not sure how else to describe.

That being said though...you can't go wrong with either one. But if you've been using the same thing since '07, it'd be funeto try something new :)

PNS IMO has better beading, durability wise unsure yet but definitely better beading.

PNS has to be one the easiest sealants to apply. Just work in small sections, wait 1 min and wipe off. No residue at all. Anyone who had a problem removing/buffing it off probably used too much. Alittle PNS goes a long way.

I agree, the PNS doesn't feel as slick as others.

I think it has a lot to do with temperature. I use EXO and C1 which a lot of people say are one of the hardest and I have no problems. I only tried the PNS on one hood because I got it in the autism speaks raffle. It was about 92 degrees and that stuff was a pita trying to do a 1x1 foot square.

So I have an almost brand new can I don't have much use for.
