Were you a DA?
I smoked pot for a long time. Once it started becoming legal everywhere I quit. I smoked a joint with a friend in California a couple of years ago and thought I was going to die. The stuff out now is dangerous imo
No, I was not a DA
I was simply a court supervisor in charge of the largest civil division in the state court system
I never smoked pot or did any other "recreational" stuff
I am so straight and conservative I make carbon fiber arrows look crooked
I did like a few beers on the weekend with my buddies and an occasional shot of Wild Turkey before a nice steak, until I found out 31 years ago when my dad died that he was an alcoholic
I knew his father and brother were alcoholics but finding out it was 3 for 3 made a lightbulb go off in my head and I simply stopped then and there
My wife never really cared for alcohol so it was zero impact on our lives
I tried my best to tell my kids that if they chose to drink they were bucking the odds and my daughter doesn't drink, although she does smoke pot
My younger son had a few years there that were touch and go where he could have gone either way but he figured it out, although he smokes pot as well
My older son fell into the well and went down to the very bottom, he has been struggling with opiates and alcohol for almost 15 years, although he has been sober now for over 2 years
He seriously messed up his health and at 41 he has soooo many health issues he is fighting
I have no frame of reference but people my age (67) that smoked then and now say the same thing you did, the new pot is an entirely different ballgame
That is actually one of my favorite arguments when smug hipsters, yuppies, vegans, and hippies start droning on about the horror of GMO food and how we should be eating all the "legacy" varieties of fruits and vegetables from 200 years ago
Its OK for pot lovers to smoke pot that has benefitted from 60 years worth of hybridized, genetically altered, carefully crossbred, scientifically boosted super marijuana but a food crop that has been improved to increase drought and insect resistance is inherently EVIL
To use one of their phrases, "whatever"
