How do these products differ? I have a black car and I'm thinking about trying the Souveran paste wax (currently using P21S). Some folks have said the spray wax by Pinnacle is a nice way to finish it off but I have a bunch of AW and I'm wondering if that will work just as well. Thanks.

Souveran is billed as a carnauba wax but Aqua Wax is a sealant in spite of its name. From my uses the AW looks best the day after application, I have not used the other.

Aquawax streaks on blacks, and dark color vehicles. Souveran does not.

"Aquawax streaks on blacks, and dark color vehicles. Souveran does not. "- I beg to differ with you Sir. I have used AW on black cars I've detailed and I use it on my own dark (Flint Mica) Toyota as well as my wife's dark burgandy van with no streaks. It's easy to apply, doesn't stain trim, works on glass and costs a whole lot less. Also it lasts longer than any plain carnuba wax.

:iagree:
AW is one of my favorite "between details" product, looks and lasts nicely.

But can anyone compare it to the Pinnacle Spray Wax? I have only used AW and it looks great and is so much cheaper, but if I'm missing out on something I'd like to know!

ps: I'd also like to second that AW works well on black w/out streaking.

I don't have a black car to test it on (tried it on my gf's black BMW, and it did streak), but Scott (Killrwheels) tested it on his own black Vette, which is absolutely fabulous Vette, and noticed streaks just like me. Flint Mica is a dark metallic, and you won't notice much of streaks on that color, as I didn't notice on my Desert Mist Acura.

Weird, I didn't get any streaking from AW on our black. Biz partner used it on his brothers black Jag w/o streaking also. Haven't used Souveran Spray wax but from what people have said its an excellent product, can't go wrong with either.

Souveran Spray wax is an outstanding product!!!!:righton:

Both are great products. I have used them both on dark colors, and have had no problems with streaking. I do think Pinnacle smells better:D

I think the people who are seeing streaking on their black paint might be using too much of it. I think Al can probably chime in here.

Recently, I bought two bottles of AW and decided to try it out on my wife's Explorer. The next day, there was some streaking. I probably used way too much and I just gave it a quick swipe with an MF and it shone like no one's business. Love this stuff!

I have not had streaks on any color vehicles. Remember a little goes a long ways. Spray a light coat on your MF the first time only and one light spray per body part. Two for the hood.
As far as Souveran, I haven't use it. But I'm sure it is nice stuff. All Pinnacle products I have used, I'm very pleased with.
Maybe the Godfather of Duragloss will chime in.

I had streaking with the Aquawax and also noted that unlike others it doesnt last thru more than one wash. Souveran Spray is absolutely the better choice as it looks better intially, as easy to use, and lasts just as long. I found the Rinse/Wipe version of Duragloss to be the better offering. As yes I used Aquawax as originally intended, on a damp vehicle. When used on a dry vehicle in the heat, you need to wash to remove some streaks. I really find the product to be "all hype" ... sorry .... but FK425 and Souveran Spray are better choices as is Zaino Z8.

Seems everyone else gets better durability though? I know our Lincoln beaded for almost 2 months with AW, FCS last about a week or so b/c on clean glass you can tell the beading starts to fade after about a week. Haven't used Souv Spray, but I have FK and don't use it much (still a good product).

I think most have so many coats of this wax or that sealant, or this sealant covered with this wax and then coated with AW that they fail to see its durability. It can be used alone, try it and report back. With any soap other than Duragloss you will notice the slickness and gloss is gone almost immediately. Beading is not the only indicator , remember clean new paint beads with no wax also.

But as offered, to each their own.

Yeh mine was stripped down when I polished it in January and then put on AW. But I use it on trim and front bumper thats painted (but never polished just cleaned with AIO as you can't see any swirls in the metallic color) also, trim will bead for a good 3-4 weeks....since anything else I use seems to run in the rain including Trim Restorer, couldn't ge teh DG Trim to work well either....seemed to absorb and fade.

Surfer, is it the #201 or 271 on the trim? Post on here or you can PM me. You and my wife has almost the same vehicle. I haven,t had any problem with the trim.

Streaks can accure when topping some products like Poorboy's spray & wipe or using to much. .

Streaking comes from using to much....hot paint and using alot on a wet car...if your using more than 1 or 2 sprays per panel you used to much....the one time I got streaking was when I used it over PB's Spray and wipe like Sparkie said..

As far as the Duability I will let the other forums speak for that...reading thier posts they get 6-8 weeks with AW alone on paint. In the UK where it was just introduced they rave on it since they get lots of rain and say it last for them,,

and The A forum has over 2000 posts on it with claims also...so AW speaks for it self....

AL

I am also a fan of AW but, from what I have read here, it should only be used about once a month because it may dull some colors if overused. If you plan on using a product more often I would lean towards the Souveran.

FWIW no streaking from AW for me, ever.
