Some nice pics in that link. Why would you go for chrome over high polished? Easier to clean?

High polished wheels are uncoated, and essentially the aluminum they are made from is in a constant state of deteriation from the elements. They tarnish quickly and show each mark. Thus alot of time spent on them, so next round I will likely do another set of Iforged in Chrome.

I see... do you buy a new vette every generation? I know you have had a c5, and now a c6. Only vettes for you eh?

Since being a kid with a father that was a GM for Buick, I was fortunate enough to go to every autoshow for more than 20 years. The car that I always found appealing was the Vette, but never thought I would own one or truthfully ever afford one.

About 5 years ago I went to work like any other day, and ended my day with a bad stomach ache and sore back. Little did I know I had an apendisitis (sp) and ended in the hospital. They tried to remove it before it burst, but parts did not go as planned. I got a massive infection and well you can imagine what was coming next !! I spent more than 8 days in the hospital and cannot remember much.

So once healthy, I decided that I could no longer live for tomorrow. I decided to do something for myself, and I went out and traded a brand new Maxima Anniversary Edition for the silver Vette. I made it a personal goal to pay for the entire car via bonus $$ only, in order to not harm my family. It was a goal that drove a Bank Manager to a very, very successful Licensed Financial Specialist that understood that $$ were more prestigious than titles. I learned how to make money, and to offer the same advice to clients.

Then came the baby, a gift to my wife that she always wanted. The Vette was impractical, and should have gone bye-bye for some time. But nope, impractical is ok. Then came the accident. It was bad, very bad. But the inside chamber of the car was unscratched, and I walked away with one scratch on wrist from airbag. I didnt sue, didnt get rich, I just did what was right and wanted the true value and hopefully the car totaled versus repaired. Being a very large guy, a Vette is not the easiest of cars to get into/out of either. (keeps me young , haha)

My wife and I sat down, and after a long discussion decided that safety being the main point another Vette was in the cards. She is a housewife currently, and another goal we set. We are also contemplating another baby. It surely is not practical (the Vette) , nor sensible, but it works. We recently bought the SRX to make it easier for her also.

Now normally I try to keep personal items aside. But I have made this exception for two reasons. First ... I truly feel each person on this forum is a friend. Second, and most importantly I hope you take a couple items away from this thread.

1. Set goals --- you will exceed when you challenge yourself to more
2. Practicality -- dont let anyone tell you what is practical, impractical can be practical in the right situation
3. Happiness --- If your not making yourself happy, then your likely just waiting for more unhappiness

there is a time for everything in life. But remember life is very short, and you only get 1 go around. Dont always wait till tomorrow to make a change or challenging yourself to move to your dreams.

I couldn't agree with that more. What sucks is that my dad is stuck in a mindset that doesn't follow that. I recently watched the movie "click" with Adam Sandler, and that is pretty much the moral of the story. Glad to hear you came out of it unscathed, and glad everything is working out. Goals are very important, and without them, you have no drive to do anything. Great post!

Well said:cheers: Now Killr, how can you make money when AG is taking it all;) ?? It usually takes money to make money....

So then I guess the answer to my question is no I don't need special pads. Don't you just love thread hi-jacks.

sorry, thought we answered the original question ...
