That's too funny. Up here in PA we have snapping turtles that can take a finger off in one snap!! I thought TW too..

I caught a nice size snapper turtle while fishing a few years ago. My aunt and uncle made turtle soup with it...they said the meat was still quivering in the fridge 24+hrs after they gutted it!


Strong little buggers too! I tried holding his tail as he tried to crawl away and had a heck of a time holding onto him!

That looked like a gopher turtle.

That is an alligator turtle. They are mean also.

I have a half acre pond full of turtles.They come out in the morning to sun bath on the banks.Sometimes they will make the two acre trek to my neighbors pond.No child support in portions of the animal kingdom.

Those who have already said that it is a Gopher Tortoise are right. They are protected here in Florida and for some crazy reason people in some areas kill them for their meat. Please take a look at this short article about the Gopher Tortoise. Gopherus polyphemus
