Speed for rupes machine

On my Rupes 15, speed 5 and up to 6 are essentially the same speed. I do use the washer tweak.

Revisiting this (except on a 21)... I tried going to speed 5 and above for the first time and agree with you, there's no apparent change in the orbital speed (judging by sound) in the 5-6 range.

Does anyone have a 15 or 21 where you do hear an audible speed increase in the 5 to 6 range on the speed dial?
Mike P: if you're looking in, you've used multiples of each machine...have you noticed this same thing on all machines?

I wonder if this is just a case of the numbered dial is misaligned, and in turn if a part of the low end speed selection is cut off?

I too hear no difference in sound, or any other change, when moving from speed 5 to speed 6. Does anyone have a correlation between speed setting and OPM?

I'd have to go out and test one after another and make a mental note or jot it down on a piece of paper as I don't remember.

Most of the time, excetp for the MF pads, I'm on speed 6 after using a slower speed to spread the product out over the area I'm going to work.

would there be any problems using a washer that is not a perfectly grinded down fit? I have 2 different size washer. 1 size needs to be grinded down on each side to fit the other is a bit smaller and can fit w/o any grinding. I dont have a dremel and dont want to spend $100 to grind it down.

Get an 8mm standard washer. It fits perfect with no modifications.

I recall a thread elsewhere (maybe by rsurfer) that the top speed is the same on all Rupes but the dial may not always show the same number.
