Which one do you prefer and why?

I think I am finally going to try one of these clay alternatives after reading so many positive reviews.

I haven't used the new Nanoskin Autoscrub Towels yet but I have used the Speedy Surface Prep Towel and my guess is since they are both reputable companies they are going to both perform about the same, that is rub them over the paint and they will abrade off any above surface bonded contaminants. I did include a section in my new how-to book on the Speedy Surface Prep Towel on pages 46 and 47 including a tip that will help you with either brand of towels.

Regardless of how a person "decontaminates" their paint in my how-to book, here on the forum and out in the garage I recommend to plan on doing at least one machine polishing step to ensure your car's clear coat is perfectly polished and prepared for your choice of wax, sealant or coating...

Funnily enough the speedy surface towel is made by,nanoskin. I called them and they confirmed it for me.

I read this elsewhere as well. So they could be very similar products.

Thanks for replying Mike - you should take a look to see if indeed they are using the same type of material.

For sure whenever I claybar I go over the car with a 1 stage polish - I would do the same for this.

There are just so many options for claybar alternatives showing up..

Optimum now has a block that uses a similar concept. Autoscrub has a wash mitt type of block.. Likely many other companies. Makes it hard to decide.

Love the Speedy prep towel, really cuts down on clay time. Just make sure to keep it clean or you will get noticible micro marring.

Can I vote for neither?

I've been using the speedy prep medium grade dx pad by hand with a hand strap with great results.

I thought I read where the Nanoskin one could be used with wash solution and or as you washed the car. Of course I would actually wash my car to get rid of dirt first. So can it be used with a traditional wash bucket solution and then rinsed with the hose or would a traditional clar bar approach be better? I have one, but have yet to use it yet.
