Any ideas on what is causing my Speedy surface(medium) towel to become so sticky you can't fold it or it completely sticks together? I started out with optimum NR as a lube and noticed the towel becoming sticky so I to Nanoskin glide hoping that would help but didn't seem to make any difference. Any ideas?

Not familiar with this towel bud. Sorry I am of no help. Hopefully someone chimes in or phone the manufacturer and ask someone. Good luck!

How old is the towel? I used ONR with mine for many, many cars and it did eventually become sticky. I took this as a sign to replace. I also have the speedy prep DA pad and it has not gotten to that point after many, many uses with ONR.

Are you using a degreaser or tar remover before the towel?

I have a different brand mitt and it will stick to itself if folded over if it is warm. The more contaminated mine gets the less sticky it is. What ever they use wouldn't work well for a towel that would typically be folded over.

I have an Optimum heavy grade clay towel and it is not sticky at all, more like hard rubber.

Same here I got 4 cars out of it.when I got the package for free I cut the skin in half.by next week it back to clay.

I shoot it with ONR and it helps prevent that. Keep it wet.

Never had an issue with mine sticking and have used them on hundreds of cars so far. One of the best detailing products I have bought in a long time and I don't miss the traditional clay bar in the least.

Mine is cause from excessive heat because I'm mobile and hot sheet metal destroys it.

I have a couple that I bought years ago when they first came out. I recently replaced them with the mitts when they became sticky and a pain to store unless they were in a ONR mix. Nothing last forever.

Exactly what I do. I have had no issues with keeping mine in a plastic bag and stored in a garage during the summer.

The package says to rinse in clean water.

This removes the stuff you clayed off plus the lube.

With mine I give it a quick spray of Optimum Detailer and store in original plastic case.

Had it 5 years still like new (only used on DD).

Maybe it is the heat, metal temp here is nearly always 80-90*. Haven't had any solvent base products on it or on the car. Porsche 911 with 5000 miles, clayed/toweled the hood. Rinsed towel off in the sink, hung-up and planned to do the rest of the car in the am. Returned the next morning and it was to sticky to use. I also have the fine towel and no problems at all......just doesn't remove anything lol
