One of my client's black GT-R emailed me today. He said his kids were spray painting in the garage and got some over spray on the hood and fender. I have no pictures yet but I'm gonna assume the worst. What should I do? Clay bar and polish?

Ok so the car came in today. The overspray left micro dots on the car. Tried the following:

1) Fine grade clay bar
2) Bug and tar remover
3) Menzerna SIP and Orange Pad
4) 3M adhesive remove

I was only able to remove the top portion of the micro dots, the others are still on the paint! Any other suggestions?

I don't know if this is a problem as well, the 3M adhesive remover left some marks and drip marks on the car as well. It's hard to take off.

I'm so screwed!

Going to need some over spray clay, a very aggressive clay like Megs Aggressive clay. This can be found at some parts stores or auto body shops. I dont know why 3m adhesive remover would of done that as I use it all the time to remove foam tape from badges and what not. Are the marks it left behind white and hazy? May have to get some 2500 or 3000 grit sandpaper and spot sand and then go from there.

I had some on my truck from when I was painting. I masked most of the truck off but it was windy so I got some black overspray on my hood. It sat on the truck for 2 months then I used Wolfgang clay it like a medium grade and took it out no problem. If the Fine Clay isnt working try bumping up to a medium or aggressive clay

Got it, thanks guys!
I'm gonna try a red medium Clay Magic clay bar tomorrow!

I heard this will strip off the clear coat, and I've already removed all old waxes/sealant. Will it do any damage? Should I clay again with the finer clay?

Red wont strip clear at all...going over it with a fine clay wont do anything but you will have to polish as the red clay will mar the paint a bit because of the aggressiveness of the clay.

So how did this turn out? I'm surprised there was dots left behind? Spray paint is usually easy to remove. 3M Adhesive Remover is pretty light stuff. I bet a stronger solvent like Laquer Thinner would have wiped it right away. I try avoiding using clay on spray paint jobs because it basically clogs it up and destroys it.
