Hi, MY friends ex boyfriend spray painted spots on her black 98 Ford Explorer and i was wondering if there is a way that i could remove just the spray paint its flat black spray paint over gloss black Thank you for any help that you could give me.

try some lacquer thinner or mineral spirits, but test it in a hidden spot(i like underside of trunk lid) to make sure its not going to mess with the paint. good luck

Would an aggressive type clay work? I teamed up with a local detailing shop in my area to get paint over spray off of 60 vehicles at a paper mill plant. One of the nearby factories had one of their huge towers painted and the over spray drifted a quarter mile into the parking lot. To get the paint off we just rubbed a mildly aggressive clay bar over the surface of the vehicles until all the paint specks were gone. The clay marred the surface a tad but we just gave the vehicles a quick 1 step and wax and then sent them on their way. Try an aggressive clay- but not the kind you get at Walmart or in those retail store kits as that type will be too weak

Lacquer thinner. Just hope that it doesent hurt the good paint. It shouldnt if the good paint is original.
