What do you use to scoop wax out to use on a lc red pad. I have BFMS and Megs 26. I was thinking a plastic butter knife. Is there any easier way to do this?

Don't know about those, but with the Pinnacle SS II I have, I just shake the whole thing out of the jar onto a MF towel and "wipe" the block over the pad once or twice and apply to a section or two. I think if you try to scoop it out with something you'll end up using way too much. Hopefully yours will let you remove them from the tub too.

I know what you mean with SSII but BFMS wont come out like that.

I was wondering the same thing in regards to #26 as I plan to use it on my wife's car pretty soon so in for the subscribe...

^^ This. Shake the jar upside down with ur hand in a plastic sandwich baggy, then spread the wax onto the pad as if you are spreading butter on toast....:hungry:

Apply a litle heat to the jar and out it will come, I use a heat gun but you could use a blow dryer if you have one as well.
With wax in hand(I wear nitrile gloves) spread on pad and apply away.

I don't allow the paste to come out of the jar. I turn it up side down and tap it on the pad. The wax falls out of the jar onto the pad, you lift the jar up about 1/4 inch and then wipe the paste onto the pad. Then fip the jar right side up and the paste goes back into the jar. You never touch the paste with your hot hand and you don't take the chance of getting dirt onto the paste since it is never really out of he jar.

Ok I tried it with the butter knife, first I primed the pad, it was like spreading butter on toast. I was surprised at how little amount of wax was used overall.
Jcedorjr, the # 26 you can use the 4inch pad it fit in there nicely, but I was really happy with useing the butter knife. But go easy I kinda over did it after priming the pad.

I would hate to alter the chemistry of BFMS since $80.00 wasn't cheap for a wax. But I could try this with megs 26.

I never tried applying a paste wax with a machine. It always seemed like more work than by hand. Is it quicker or is there another advantage to applying paste wax this way?

You should try it.

I still use Mike P.'s advice of using my PC wrench. It's accessible and has a big radius on the end so you're able to get a nice "scoop" . Treat it like frozen butter. Just scrape the top of the wax. This makes it easy to spread evenly.

The main advantage I thought was quickness. Once I primed the pad I got the car done in 10 mins.

Speed and you'll likely use less product. The machine makes it easier to get an even & thin layer on the vehicle.

I use a 1-1/2" wide paint brush with the bristles cut to about 1" long. Works great. It cost me all of 39 cents.

The Blue 4'' Lake Country pad fits perfectly in the tin can... See photo below.

Just turn on the polisher inside the can to spread the wax evenly and you're set.
