After 22 years in our place the man cave was trashed - it was time for some spring cleaning! Four weekends later (and about $700 poorer) it has shaped up - not done but close.

> Paint walls, ceiling, old cabinets and door
> New storage shelving
> New work benches
> New door handle, lock and kick plate
> New wall cabinet
> New long tool organizer
> New peg boards
> New storage bins

Threw out lots of old junk and organized the rest of the stuff (hey, I know I haven't used that in 15 years but I MIGHT need it some day!).

Spent two days replacing garage door parts and tuning the door (plus another half day grinding part of the garage floor flat so it would close properly).

Still need to organize all of my wood and add another 110V circuit.

Want to do the floor but word came down: "It's a GARAGE! No new floor until the home is recarpeted, the kitchen cabinets refinished and the living room furnature reupholstered."

Sigh. But I'm happy with what I was able to do! :D

Nice work for a modest investment. :righton:

You are going to inspire me to do my garage.

Looks great now.Did you find any lost friends in there while cleaning out 15 years worth.

Nice! But that TV is lacking something fierce:D

Hey, don't blame me (just kidding).

Nice thing was my wife actually encouraged me to do this! Gotta love that woman...

Looks great man. Nice work. The poor TV does look out of place tho.

Man Cave looks great. I look at these while I'm at work and it makes me want to go home "sick".

who made the wall cabinets?

Hello James -

Thanks for your reply. I made those cabinets about 18 years ago. They are "down and dirty" slap 'em together cabinets. Doors flip up then slide in.

BOM (bill of materials) list includes:
> plywood scraps from a housing project,
> a few #6 wood screws,
> each door has a 12" section of piano type hinge,
> each door has a handle from Lowes ($2.50 each - most expensive part of the cabinet),
> dark and light gray paint I picked up at Lowes for $8 gallon as "mismatched" clearance (originally $34 per gallon),
> wood glue,
> lag bolts to mount to wall studs.

Tools used to make and assemble:
> table saw,
> sander,
> router (optional),
> drill,
> couple of 36" clamps (I used 6), but not necessary
> screw driver,
> socket wrench (to attach lag bolts).

Cut and assemble time for both sets of cabinets (single row and double row):
> about two days.

GEWB
