Hi all - I've been a member on this forum for a while, but have never really posted. I am an avid weekend detailer that ensures their car is cleaner than all the neighbors! Long story short, I bought my wife a new car last week, and while drying it off after its first wash, I noticed what looks like a stain on the roof. Not sure if you call it a stain, but I would love to get it gone. I claybarred, used Meguiars Ultimate Compound, Zaino AIO, Griots One-Step polish/sealant and didn't get anywhere. Anyone know what it is and how to get it gone? It's level with the paint.

Can you try taking a clearer pic from directly above? Almost looks like a burn.

Try wiping it down with some mineral spirits. It won't hurt the paint, just be sure to rinse it off afterwards.

I second this....

If that doesn't work---take back to dealer.

I tried isoprophyl alcohol last night. Didn't work. Going to pickup some white vinegar today and hope that does the trick!

Just go straight to mineral spirits...if that doesn't work

Stop by a "friendly" body shop with your rag and ask if you could dab the rag with reducer to see if this does the trick...

It might be under the clear. I bought a brand new Corolla that had a thumbprint on the hood under the clear coat. Dealer repainted the hood.

When you were trying to get rid of it, did anything reduce it or improve the appearance? If not, I'm guessing it's under the clear and would need a repaint. By all means, try the mineral spirits and see what that does first....as some very knowledgeable and helpful people have suggested.

Thank you all for the advice on this so far. I will be trying the mineral spirits & vinegar this weekend. My hope is that it's not under the clear coat.
