Thank You Mike,Removing compounding and polishing residue off pebble textured black plastic trim is always a paint... pebble textured black plastic is the worst offender but even just smooth plastic and rubber trim is hard to remove residue off of...
First you want to try to wash the residue off as best as you can and try using any vinyl or rubber cleaners you might have, you can also try using all purpose cleaners just make sure they are diluted correctly if you had to dilute them in the first place.
Scrub the trim with a medium stiff nylon bristle brush, too soft want do much and to hard could mar the plastic.
Rinse with water and repeat.
Once you've done your best to remove as much of the offending residue off the trim the next thing you can do is apply some dressing which will restore a uniform black color assuming the trim isn't just snow white from so much residue being plastered onto it.
These two products are made specifically for removing polish and wax residue form off rubber and plastic trim.
