… I really can’t see any type of low abrasive polish working either, I think I ‘d try to strip the whole thing with 50-50 rubbing alcohol and water and see if that works…

Most of the coating prep "polishes" we have been referring to have no abrasives and are misnomers by name ... they're really just chemical-based cleaners.
