So tonight I was at the blood clinic to donate blood when a friend who had not seen Star Wars yet called me to invite me to see it with him.

I hated the movie the first time around. Nothing makes sense in that movie. But I have read so many places that the second viewing is much better...

so I went...

Sigh, I don't know how the movie could improve on the second viewing, the plot holes are even worse because you know about them and try to find reasons
that make sense in the movie and there just isn't any...

I really hope that the Hans Solo movie will be good. And I have a hard time seeing how they can recover from this mess in Episode IX.... at least it won't be the same
director, so at least there is a little hope... although JJ Abrams did a bad job with Episode VII.... so ya... I think: We're doomed ;)

Thought it was pretty good. Same for Force Awakens. Good thing movies are subjective.

I didn’t like “The Last Jedi”. The Force Awakens was better.

It is strange how The Last Jedi is liked by critics, but is being bashed by a lot viewers.

Ya, makes you wonder how many criticts are on the payroll of the big studios. On Rotten Tomatoes the critict score was over 90% and the public score around 50%... I have 1 friend who liked it, everyone else hated it. And when I talk to him about the reasons the story makes no sense, he agrees.... but still like it ROFL

If I was not a Star Wars fan, I might like it too. Visuals are amazing and it's a space opera so it is entertaining... but that story.... ouch.

I haven't seen anything since The Force Awakens. Doubt I'll bother. Too hit-and-miss and I'm not really getting the continuity between the movies.

I liked last Jedi better than Force but thought they were both cool. Not sure what you are looking for in the movies but nothing is going to compare to the originals. Specially now since Disney has ahold of them.

That is my problem. I’m comparing everything to the first three movies. I will just have to rewatch the original trilogy.

It was a good movie overall, but like many others, I didn't like the direction they went with some of the story lines.

My problem is i was a kid when the trilogy's first came out and they were amazing. I became besotted so to speak. toys, stickers, would have killed for the Keller falcon as a kid. Part of my growing up TBH. Today i'm a grown adult and even the originals, they're just good movies. A distant memory. But i have tried to re-create that buzz that i had as a kid, with my kid.. (the other kid couldn't give a hoot! and doesn't even come) Taken him to all the new ones twice. I've not seen last Jedi for its 2nd viewing yet, but will do. I was not impressed on the first viewing, and actually had a little sleep. lol but really enjoyed Awakens and Rogue, 1st and 2nd viewings. So i was expecting more. Casino's and floating around in space? didn't hit the spot.

No offense to anyone about anything but... Is that rumor about Carrie Fisher true?

What rumor is that? Her life was a mess, so I am sure many rumors might be floating around.

That she was born a man and lived her real life as a transexual. There’s an interview with the actor that played Hans Solo where he says she lived her life with a secret she never told, and that secret was that she was born a man.

I guess it’s common knowledge that they had a fling, so he would know and he pretty much admitted to it and he’s old enough not to care what people think of him as far as that..

1 thing that stood out to me as odd when she passed away. They said she never wanted to be looked at as a “sex figure” to anyone including her fans throughout her life and basically hated how there were boys/men who found her sexually attractive. Now what woman has ever hated being thought of as attractive? That’s extremely rare... Unless of course you’re hiding that sort of secret, then it makes sense.

I don't know but that sounds very strange to me. Especially that she had an affair with Harrisson Ford while he was marrried to someone else. She gave the details in her book, so I am thinking that might be the secret you heard about.

You’re right, sounds crazy. It’s something someone told me about and showed me a clip of.. But that’s what rumors are.

I watched the movie w my wife and kids and we all liked it. We are there to be entertained and watch the fight scenes and beautiful worlds they create. Just don’t go in w expectations or listen to critics reviews. As for a second viewing - I’ll wait til the movie is released and I can watch it on my home 4K projector theater setup :). My son and I play the battlefront games on Xbox and like those too.

Sorry to be so blunt...but it's in my top 10 worst movies I've ever seen.

Arms dealing? Seriously? Arms dealing? It's the 8th movie, and there has never been a hint that either side was paying contractors for their weapons. Wth is that?

And then Luke gonna kill a Jedi... his nephew no less... because he had some darkness? His dad was Darth Vader, the master of all darkness, and he never gave up on him.

Come on man.

Many people feel that way.

I don't think it's one of the worst movies ever produced, but I do think it is the worst Star Wars movie ever produced.... mostly because they broke every rule of the SW universe they could. Take that movie, remove the Star Wars background universe and it's a very decent film. But as a Star Wars movie I give it a 3/10.

Ya it's not in the movies but in the extended universe material it is mentioned a few times. For example, the rebelions got their fighters from a company called Incom and the Tie Fighters are produced by a company called Sienar. It's just not the type of things you want to waste time putting in a movie, it would not help the plot and most people would not care.

As for Luke... yep totally agree. Mark Hamil was very vocal about the choices the writters made for his character and he felt Luke would never act like that or do any of those things. I guess that is why they decided to kill him. He did not seems to be aware of it either... after the premiere, he looks stunned, so my guess is he was never told Luke died at the end of the movie.
