Hey all!!!
I started on my truck today. It's a black 2005 Dodge Quad Cab (yes it's got a Hemi
). The paint overall isn't in bad shape, I'm mostly cleaning off water spots and jewelling the paint. It's got some pretty deep scratches here and there, especially on the sides of the bed. I'm struggleing with the major scratches, I don't think I'm going to get them out with the PC.
Anyway, here we go..
I washed using NXT tech wash, the 2 bucket method and my 2 Schmitts (wash and wheel). I dried using a MF towel, Crystal Mist, and a leaf blower.
I didn't need to clay because I had clayed the whole truck last week after washing it.
I started with the hood and front fenders, sorry I forgot to take before pics but here is one of the side showing the condition of the paint. I didn't think it was too bad...
I used XMT 4 with a green Edge pad on the tough scratches first, then finished with XMT 2 on the other side of the green pad.
I topped that off with XMT glaze and Souveran paste....
I'm pretty happy with the results.. :awesome:
Another hood shot...
And one of the fender, it's curved, that's why I look funny...
Overall
I spent some time on the bed but I had to stop because my pads were all gunked up, and my very fair skin was burning to a crisp!!!
Here's where I stopped...
Tomorrow I hope to finish off the doors, bed and tailgate, if my sunburn will let me
.
Thanks, Dave
