I used the orange LC pad with XMT #3 followed by the white pad with #1. It looked pretty good but I noticed there were still some scratches I missed. I decided to try out the yellow pad with #3 followed by the white pad with #1. I saw more results. My wife and I also noticed the car has what looks like red sparkles mixed in with the black. Something we've never seen before because the paint was in such poor shape. We bought it used. So I can't wait to get more of it done tomorrow.

Here are some pics of what I did so far.

Isn't the PC a wonderful tool? Those were some bad swirls there. Looking good so far. Can't wait to see the completed pics. You are the 2nd person I've seen who's used the LC Yellow pad. The 1st was Ryandamartini. Did you notice a lot of micro-marring etc. after using the Yellow? XMT1 cleaned up nice, if there was.
When I first used my PC, I was amazed at the difference in the paint. It actually "squeeked" when I wiped the XMT off to see my work.
Now it should go a little quicker for you, since you know what you need to do......Yellow pad/XMT3, White pad/XMT1. Enjoy your new PC, Doc!! :)

Very nice .......yea I see those red sparkerls..........Make sure you get us some photos of the full detail I'm sure it will be outstanding.

The yellow pad is really taking the bull by the horns and getting the job done...Good job......i had some very bad micro-marring on my wifes T- bird from the dealer and although the orange pad did do most, the yellow pad finshed it off beautifuly......i used the PINN ASR....... Followed up with the XMT -1 .......white L.C. pad........then the souveran paste......x2...

oh yeah it's amazing! I had to call my neighbor over to take a look. He was totally amazed and said he never knew it was possible to restore paint like that. He wants me to bring his 10 year old Rav4 back from the dead before he sells it :D Sounded like all he knew about was waxes and I had to explain to him that waxing doesn't really do much if you don't use other products to prep the paint first.

I didn't notice any micro marring but I will take a closer look with the next section I work on. I took my time on the fender and before wrapping up for the night I did half the door pretty quickly just to see if I could get decent results w/o moving really really slow. The quick passes didn't cut through much but repeated medium paced passes produced the results you all see.

Thanks! Hopefully the sun comes out today so I can take some "before" shots before I finish the rest of the car.

Yeah I decided to try the yellow pad because I think I read on here, or maybe it ws autopia, that the yellow pad really takes care of business and it looks like that's true.

WOW! So your father-in-law washed the car with the wheel well mitt? NICE!!!

oh yeah her parents' neighbors also have a black subi and I saw them out waxing it one day with a cheap orbital so I walked over to check it out. The guy told me it does a really good job and then set it pad down on the driveway and said I could borrow it any time, lol. No thanks!

I wonder if those neighbors were using Turtle Wax?:D

DrMike, your father-in-law sounds like my father-in-law!

Your neighbor, what kind of wax was he using?
