I've been detailing awhile and last year been buying more to start up to do more the biggest problem is the town I live in has 250 people in it which isn't going to keep me busy because I will still have my 10 customers, which I appreciate their business but want to get bigger. Past out the business cards even to dealerships close by but they already have some one doing their details. Any suggestions. Thanks

The first answer you probably won't like - move. Move to a town with more customers.

Besides that, with only 250 people - only part of this number will be people that own cars.

Are there any car clubs in you town?

Mustang Club
Camaro Club
Corvette Club
Mini Cooper Club
Streetrod Club

Etc.

Unfortunately no car clubs I thought about starting up in next biggest town but really just scared to. I'm afraid of failure

Ok I lived in Illinois for 40 years. Your town, albeit small is within a reasonable distance to other more populous towns. Dwight is 20 minutes away. If you start building up your reputation, people will seek you out. There is a Sam's club 7 minutes from my house, I still drive to Ft Collins Colorado, from Cheyenne to go to Costco.

Then quit.... you won’t have failed. If that’s not an option (I seriously hope it isn’t) you need to find out the root of that and get passed it.

ALL SUCCESSFUL PEOPLE FAIL..... you will never learn as near as much from the wins in your life as you will from your failures.

You just have to focus on both and see how both wins and losses can improve.

Take Amazon greatest business in the history of businesses.

Remember the Fire phone? No neither do I. If anyone should be able to compete with apple its a less expensive Amazon phone right? 170 million dollar loss.

I can guaranteed he had failing ideas before Amazon. In fact amazon started as an online book store. Look how it changed and adapted to the empire it is today.

You will have failures in life thats an absolute. What is wonderful about that though is you make the choices on how you react to them.

Now go out their and build your business because the biggest failure is not doing anything about it in the first place!

You say you have 10 customer’s. Think how you got them.... how you’ve retained them.... do they have friends in the town over? Car people usually know other car people? Reward them for successful referral’s. I’m sure pro detailers will chime in.... and i’d bet even the most successful ones have failed somehow at some point.

Anyways good luck to you and I hope your business turns into an Empire!
