Static Buildup After Polishing

When I buff my 68 Shelby the fiberglass parts get a static buildup and when I touch a metal part of the car I get shocked. The metal parts of the car have no buildup only the fiberglass parts.

I'm using the Porter cable polisher: Orange pad with compound, white pad with polish, and red pad with paint protectant. Seems to happen right after the paint protectant process.

Any idea how to prevent this? I live in West Texas.

It's environmental, nothing you can do about it.

I deal with the same issues in Florida and not just detailing related.

I hate that stuff. For some reason my windshield is the worst. If the cloth is not damp, you can hear the static from far and the shocks are pretty brutal.
