Steady stream vs. nozzle spray for rinsing before & after using car soap

Occasionally I see instructions (for applying car soap), that you should rinse the car either before and/or after, to use the water running from the hose in a steady stream, as opposed to using a nozzle.

(1) What is the reason for this?

(2) For those that have tried this, is there any discernible benefit that you can see---or is this just supposed to be better in theory, but it is hard to see how it makes a difference, one way or the other?

The reason for using the stream for the final rinse is to allow most of the water to sheet off of the vehicles panels so you have less water to dry.

Interesting. I don't see oodles of water stuck to the paint now, most likely because I live in a dry desert climate.

I was thinking it would have more to do with the soap itself.

I'll have to try the steady stream and see if there is less work drying.

Nah it has nothing to do with the soap.. When doing the final rinse this way, make sure not to turn the water up to high/fast, you want it to spread across the vehicle gently so it doesn't splash, but not too gently that you can't push the water around.
