Hey everybody,

With increased business especially for interiors I am torn between two steam cleaners. I am thinking of purchasing the Mytee Firebird or steamfast or wagner the $100 dollar steamers. As far as specs it seems the two are very similar? 50 oz tank, 10 min warm up time, 50 minutes of steam, and 1500W; however, the price $350 vs $100 is strikingly different. Anybody have any thoughts on the two? I am mostly curious why the Mytee is that more expensive. Thanks!

I believe the Mytee is a bit higher quality. That said I think both may fall short for professional detailing. At $100 you could buy 3 for the price of the Mytee. Both have some draw backs.

I've been torn on a steamer myself and almost bought the Mytee but held off thinking the VX5000 may be the way to go and it's 2-3 times the price of the Mytee.

The mytee gets up to 325-350 and the Wagner 135

Besides that, on a quick research, I haven't found any other differences.

So essentially the jet of steam is the same amount just the temperature is higher with the Mytee as well as the quality?

I believe you get more accessories with the Mytee and the steam temp is higher. Both should use distilled water and with the Wagner 50 min of use is generous. I've not used the Mytee. If you get a year the year and a half out of the Wagner I'd say that's pretty normal. Get an extended warranty should be worth it. I had a Wagner didn't use distilled water and it worked for about a year. Still pretty good for the price especially if you just need steam and no brush accessories.

I use a McCulloch steamer . 1500w , 45 mins run time , over 200 degrees . only $125 . the little I use a steamer I didn't need to spend a fortune .

Good points Magnus, Poweraid does the steamer you gave a picture of do everything you need it to?

I'm torn between the Wagner and the McCullough. I think the main difference is the attachments

I think you're correct. I am just concerned the wagner/McCullough will do everything interior wise I would need it to compared to the Mytee

I'm happy with it . it has a couple of attachments , I have used it on engines, door jams, door panels , carpets, upholstery, wheels . it takes a bit to warm up , only use distilled water in it . I'd say of u are interested in it , search it and see if the included attachments suits u needs . I just leave the nylon nozzle brush on it and that's it . I can't compare it to anything else as this is the only one I've used .

I have the Dupray for over a year now and its great machine but its $900. what it comes down too are you doing this as a business or just a side job?
cause I use mine almost everyday so I bought one that would last for years cause this is how I make a living.

Yea it is a side job that's why the prices of the Mytee (350) and Wagner (100) are more fitting. One more question poweraid, is it effective for dirty cupholders and crud stuck on plastic ect...

In my opinion I would get the Mytee great company and they make great products that last. Yes they work great to clean cup holders and door pockets.

sure , no problem . I used it on cupholders , door panel pockets . I was just looking for info on it on the web , I'm finding different info on the actual max water temp . harbor freight only list it as max of 183.5 degrees , others saying over 200 , so I don't know . but it does the job I need it for , for light usage , couple cars a year

if ya got the moola , I'd get the better quality - mytee unit , no doubt, unless u just don't think you will use it too much . when this one goes to heck , I'll get a better one .

I bought a McCulloch MC1275 this weekend and used it all day yesterday.

It did well on the interior. I used the 25% off coupon and added the 2 year coverage. Can't lose.

Now I don't know how it compares to other units but it got the job done and I can see it lasting years for a weekend warrior as long as you take care of it.

Honestly when you start using anything upwards of 200 degrees you are most likely going to melt something inside the car. I have a Wagner and a Mcullough and it works fine for me. I always like to have multiple items just in case one fails.

Yea good point I mean I'm doing detailing on the side so probably every few days, is it dangerous to use higher level steam cleaners because of high temps?

You just have to be smart you can a just the temp so you don't do something dumb.

I ordered the mytee and it came Friday, I love the thing. Best tool i've added to my arsenal. I' actually on a break from doing the bathroom right now. You can get the mytee for cheaper with a price match (that's what I did) and AG will match it. So far I have no complaints the thing works wonders I can't wait for the Denali detail I have Friday to really put it to the test. I've just about cleaned my whole house with the mytee and the unit is just awesome. I was very surprised at how much of a pressure jet of steam it puts out...Hot as hell too.
