How many of you use a steam cleaner for carpet and upholstery?

If I want to detail about 10-15 cars a month for some extra cash (not an all out business) would I benefit at all from a steam cleaner? As of now I just plan on using Megs APC+ for carpet stains/cleaners and a nice scrub brush. I may purchase a heavier chemical like Wolfgang Spot remover? if that is a little tougher on rough spots. Follow all this with a nice de-odorizer.

Any of you guys really have goodn experience with this?

No experience with a steam cleaner, but if I done it full time, then yes I would have one. Stanley Steemer done my carpets in the house before I put down hard wood floors.

i have a steam cleaner at my house, and used it once on my old car which was in pretty sad shape. it worked very well, but i found it to be very time consuming, and even after you vaccum up all the excess water the drying time is also somewhat long. so if you wanted to use it on your own cars i guess it would be fine, but as far as doing bulk detailing, it might be a bit of overkill

I looked into some RIGID wet/dry vacs. Would a 12 gal. 5HP, be stong enough? Or would a 9 gal. 3 1/2HP be good enough as well?

i use them quite a bit at work, id say its worth it... they do a thoroughly good job and so if someone has pretty bad upholstery or carpets, spot remover isnt gonna do much. if you do get one, make sure to stay away from headliners. you will melt or soak the glue and the headliner will start to sag
