So I'm trying to research steamers and I'm seeing some people do steam washes, just hitting it with steam immediately followed with a microfiber. What's been the consensus on this as far as it being a safe alternative to the traditional two bucket? By safe I mean not inducing any marring or blemishes. I guess it might depend on how dirty the car is?

It really depends on two things what kind of steamer you have and how dirty the car is. I have a Dupray steamer but have never tried to steam a car with it I prefer using the rinseless wash over steam or the two bucket.

I don't see how it couldn't mar to some extent. I have a VC-4000 and only use it on the exterior around badges or emblems for wax removal. Steam can suspend the dirt from the paint like a rinse less or waterless wash does, and there is no lubricity like a two bucket wash. Not saying its not possible but I would be skeptical or a damage free wash with steam.

I use the DuPray but I also spray waterless wash before I steam a section. It works great when the weather won't allow outside wash. It would also be good for water restriction situations.
