Still Beading after Strip?

Is this common? I hit it with a thorough Dawn wash and followed with an ISP spray and wipe, and I'm still getting beading. Product layers were only Wet Diamond Seal, and two thin coats of 845. All layers were weeks old.

I don't really want to repeat with Dawn/ISP as I try to stay away from these as much as possible. Should I just continue on to polishing and not worry about it, or do something to further strip?

Are you trying to remove your LSP?
 
Yes, trying to get a clean slate before a 2 step and seal/wax.

Due to the washing/IPA session...Sounds like you have a "clean slate" (no dirt, etc., on your vehicle's surfaces) to begin your 2 Step.

What products constitute your 2 Step? Are they polishes with abrasives of some sort or the other? If so, I would think the 2 Step (again, might be product dependent?) should remove the previous LSPs.

One method:

After achieving your desired results with the 2 Step, using IPA, or similar product, to strip away polishing residues, might be beneficial towards achieving "another clean slate", before an LSP application, IMO.

Do another Dawn wash. This time, let the soap come almost to the point of drying on the paint. Rinse and see what you've got going on. If its still beading, repeat the following steps

I would spray the entire car with OPC and let it dwell a while. You should be good to go after that!

should have thought of that. Dont have OPC, but will rinse and hit it with diluted APC and quick rinse/wipe.

Whatever is left after that should be taken care of as my first step will be orange pad with Menz. Power Finish this time around.

Its happened to me too. I HIGHLY, HIGHLY recommend the Griot's Garage Paint Prep. Its cheap and it will last you, but most importantly IT WORKS!

Pick up the pre-wax cleaner as well. Another great product. I never knew the importance of removing the polishing oils and residue prior to putting down the LSP.

Machine polishing even with a fine cut polish will remove anything off the surface, heck hand polishing will do the same...

Removing a wax or sealant before polishing by chemically stripping would be the least of my worries... in fact I wouldn't even do it... if it were my car I would wash, clay if needed and then start polishing.
